I bought these Bose 161 bookshelf/satellite speakers for $25 dollars thinking they might sound alright for the computer. I was wrong, they sound like garbage and I am selling tomorrow. They just can't hit the highs at all, this is bad even for some other full range driver configurations. Bose is perfect for people that are half deaf, but these suck.:( (not to say I didn't expect as such;))

You really dont have to explain how bad they are to try and retain any last hopes of reputation. Just come out of the closet and admit it. You like them! Its alright to be different!! :p

Kinda reminds me of my ex-wife's little brother.

He always was a lying, cheating, scu... err.., loser who would steal from friends and relatives (not strangers) from the time I met him when he was 10 stealing liquor out of daddy's liquor cabiner and was found lying dead at the bottom of a stairwell in a crack house in Newark 23 years later.

All the girls and ladies in the family would always protect "poor little Scotty", throw out bail money, lie for him and pay for his indescretions left and right but his brothers were wise. He was forced on us for a few years and turned our life upside down and I truly believe that was the start of our marital problems. ...but ex-wifey will never admit that.

They always thought that "this time, with our help and support, he'll be better". He never was. He always bit the loving, hopeful hand that fed him and his favorite line was "You knew what I was when you (helped me here)".

Bose is the same. It'll never change. It's a triumph of heartbreak over hope.

Well maybe a cheap pair of 301's, though...

Sorry for the rant. It's Monday AM.

In all honesty I didn't think they were going to be mainstays, you just never see Bose for $25, not even their old banged up stuff. They still sell for $160 or about on just about every place I looked (horay for fixed prices:rolleyes:) I think the Pawn Shops in town should give me at least double what I paid for them.:D

No criticism implied. I wus just rambling.

Heck, I've thrown away more $$ that that on yard sale gambles and lost.

And, you're right. There's gonna be some brain-washed schlep who sees the Bose tag and will be willing to take out a second mortgage for it.

Saying "I bought Bose and they sucked" is like saying "I stubbed my toe and it hurt." I mean, how could anything be more obvious?

Well I was happy and pregnant when I realized I collect the Chinese Antique, but when I saw the Bose I was very pregnant the happy Chinese.

I have owned some old Bose speakers and a Bose sub sat thing before this. The Bose sub sat was purchased from Circuit City and this was before I had even heard of this site. They sucked so bad I returned them the next day, the sound from the woofer box was unbearable, sad that the best part was the little satellite speakers.

Hey Seth, are you as curious as I am, to see what's inside of them?
I'll bet they don't have $25 worth of components and drivers.

About 20 years ago I bought a pair of Bose 401's at a 'Going Out of Business Sale'
I used them for rear surrounds. They sucked, and I gave them to my brother less than a month later.

This almost makes me want to run to the Best Buy just a mile away and pick up some Bose and do a direct comparison to some of the speakers I still have here. Would make for a good laugh.

I would take them apart, but they are glued and I think the Pawn Shop would like to have "not broken" speakers.;) The grills are even glued, it is tarded to say the least.:D

You don't need to listen to them to laugh, just look at the price and quality comparison, it quickly becomes evident that it is all just a big long joke.;)
