Just wanted to put the word out that there will be a display of home theater seating at this year’s Audioholics State of the Union Party/Event, on Clearwater Beach Florida (10/06/07). The three chair models on display will be the Star Delight, The Crown Jewel, and the Reno. These are 'real movie chairs' like those at the actual state-of-the-art movie cinemas. There will also be a drawing for a popcorn machine and some tactile transducers. Home theater seating experts, Mr. Wil Kovacs and Ms. Leah O'dor will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions pertaining to row configurations, seating layouts, various chair features and the advantages of one theater seat model over another.
Seating questions are welcome here using this forum as well. We will do our best to get answers for you.
Thank you.

Most theater seatings just don't look very soft, cozy, & comfortable to me. They look too formal. The whole purpose of a "Home" Theater is for us to enjoy the awesomeness of movie & sound magic in our very cozy informal seating environment. I will not ever buy a movie theater seating unless Bose invents the Cube Seats----that means each leather seat has a 5.1 Bose Cube speaker system.:D

Ouch... generalization... hurting my eyes... lol.

The problem is that SOME theater seating setups aren't as comfortable, but some are. Mine, for example, is the space-conscious Berkline 080 series - not very comfy. In hindsight I would have chosen differently, but I have sat in some very comfortable theater chairs. They are usually bigger (wider) and have more leather and padding all around.

In response to Davemmc, being a brand new member, I did not want to break any rules.
Here are your answers… “The name of the company displaying these seats is _SeatsAndChairs_ and the company website is _SeatsAndChairs.com?”

When selecting home theater seating, specifically choosing between real cinema seats or leather recliner seating there is a lot to take into consideration.
Remember real cinema seating are designed with movie viewing in mind.
The chairs have to be comfortable, and they have to be within the budget, but also the use of the room comes into play, as well as what you want the room to be. In other words is the home theater in your home used everyday? Is it the family TV room? Or is it a 'dedicated' theater room for events like having company over, chick flick night with the girls, guys night watching baseball, football, etc. Is it used for parties? Super Bowl, Oscar Night? If you use the room everyday the seats had better be COMFORTABLE to sit in for hours, even nap in. Are the kids older? Are they inviting their friends over to play video games for hours at a time? Eating and drinking? The real movie chairs are great for kids, because they are virtually indestructible, they are engineered and designed for 3 shows a day, up to 9 hours of sitting a day for 15+ years. They are manufactured to commercial grade standards.
If you want a real theater in your home you have got to go with real movie theater seating. If you like to kick back, relax, even nod off in your chair, then the leather home theater recliners are the way to go. As far as prices, there is a big range. My experience is you get what you pay for, usually. Also, don't overlook used real movie chairs either because there are some barely used theater seats out there that are a bargain.
Your thoughts everybody?
