Looking for Speaker Recommendations

Hey Guys...I am new to the site and I must say there is a wealth of great information on here. Just looking for some suggestions on my speaker purchases. As of right now I have purchased an HK AVR 247 as my receiver and a Velodyne DPS 12 as the sub. I am looking for some suggestions on the best 5.1 speaker package (fronts, center, rears) I can put together in the $650 range. I would prefer floorstanding in the front but am open to any suggestions. Room is not large only 18X15. Thanks in advance.

I have already went and listened to the following:
-Yamaha NS555 and NS777
-Polk Audio RTi8
-JBL Venue Stage and Stadium Series

So far the JBL sounded the best out of those 3.

There isn't a "best" speaker package as all speakers have unique characteristics. You need to get out and audition as many brands as possible as most of the major brands have some speakers in this price range. What will the system be used for? How much for HT and how much for music? Do you like loud and upfront or soft and laid back kind of sound?

I actually thought about going a different route and getting bookshelves instead of towers since I had the Velodyne sub. Doing this would allow me to significantly ugrade the set-up. The current package I just auditioned was the following:

Klipsch
RB 51 fronts
RC 52 center
RS 10 rears

The whole set up can be had for around $700 plus tax..

Any thoughts?

Check out AV123.com. They have some very attractive sales going on now, especially in the packages. I'm trying to figure if it is a good time for me to make the jump also. AV123.com have had some great reviews - and the finish is amazing for the price. Good luck and enjoy !!

av123 are great speakers, but are at the other end of the spectrum when compared to Klipsch. Klipsch are considered bright whereas av123 are considered neutral to warm. What did you think of the Klipsch?

Not going to come close to your target budget with the AV123 Rocket series. With the Rockets you will be closer to $1200. But you can with the x-series.
Thanks for the recommendations. It seems that the AV123 speakers are a great choice however, being that they are internet based how can I audition these speakers?...has anyone heard these in comparison to the Klipsch I have listed above?

They are totally different in sound quality from one another.

You can purchase these AV123 speakers risk free, and demo in your home. If you don't like what you hear AV123 will pay return shipping. This will give you an idea of the AV123 x-series sound.

WOW! This is a prime example of how important it is to audition speakers. Of the B&M models listed, I would choose the Polk RTi8's.
I wouldn't even consider Klipsch. I do have the option to audition side-by-side at my dealers location though, and he sells a lot of them.

Perfect timing. One Call has a Boston Acoustics clearance deal going.

Factory refurbished VR3 towers $179ea or $250 each brand new. Also available in black but looks best in dark cherry.

Brand new CRC center (the perfect acoustic match for the VR3) $199

Brand new CR57 bookshelf speakers as surrounds $79/pr. Also available in black.

Total MSRP = $1829 (what Magnolia Audio used to sell them for)
Total Sale = $639 plus shipping (the CR57 ship free)

BTW: These are super efficient and don't require a lot of power to really fill a room.
