HDMI cable causing power supply conflicts?

I will try to keep my question/headache simple:

<<< Equipments >>>

DVD player - Sony Model: DVPNS90V
HDMI cable - Analysis Plus Model: X-Factor

<<< Problem >>>

There's no power issue when the DVD player is NOT connected to any signal cable. I am able to turn the DVD player on/off as many times as I want.

However, with this HDMI cable connection, I am only able to turn on/off the DVD player only ONCE. The power switch doesn't work anymore. To resume normal DVD player operation, I need to unplug the power for 3 minutes to "reset" the power as suggested by the SONY Tech Support. Unfortunatelly, the same problem remain after several reset attempts and here I am. :(

Let me know if additional information is required to fully explain my problem. Your valuable words of advice would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you have say a component cable connected to it? Does that cause the same issue?
This is a strange issue for sure.
Is the rest of the system disconnected too when this happens with HDMI? If not may want to try that too, or rather disconnect the cable TV totally and try it.
By the way, what made you buy that particular brand of HDMI and what did it set you back?

Dear Mtrycrafts and other viewers of this thread:

Thank you for your assistance. One thing I forgot to metion in my original post is that this Sony DVD player was connected directly to my Sharp LCD TV and it was the only A/V component for this system. The TV works fine and has no power issue.

However, this conflict problem was resolved last night after I plugged the Sony DVD player power cord into a power conditioner and reconnected the same HDMI cable. Everything is back to normal now.

Wishing everyone a great weekend!!

Well, that is good news but still an interesting issue, unless it was caused by the recognition of the HDMI from the DVD player by the TV, or the DVD player not able to get a handshake from the TV went into that mode.

You may want to try another experiment since you were able to solve the issue and know how to do it again if needed:
Try to set it up as before, no power conditioner, then just recycle the HDMI cable as you did with the power conditioner and see what happens.
