True. Sad, but true. Last time the delivery guy came and my wife says, "You are so busted. What did you buy now?"
My quick response was, "Honey. I'm just testing the equipment. They are providing free shipping both ends just for testing their equipment.":D
That's rich, ADTG, real rich! I'm a Tester, he says........

AcuDefTechGuy,

"Honey. I'm just testing the equipment. They are providing free shipping both ends just for testing their equipment."
Yeah have tried that one as well. My last attempt was something along the lines of "If I can have it I will love you more and that will make our marriage better" (I was caught off gaurd and was desperate )

That one got me banished to the basement for the night, but that is where the HT is, so who really lost that battle ;)

Cheers

Well, I think my marriage is pretty good. But if something were to happen, there is no way I would ever re-marry. No Way.

Well I’m still enjoying laserdisc on the odd occasion and DVD so they can keep there HD-DVD and Blu-Turkey and I’ll buy when there’s only one left standing.

This debate can go on for at least 7 years.

Wow, still using laserdisc?
I think a high-quality DVD upscale to 1080p would look very good.

I think a lot of people think that when they upscale a DVD to 1080p, it is the exact same thing as blu-ray or hd dvd. So of course, why would they waste money on it?

I know, 10 month after your original comment is not what I call "Quick Reply" ... So you have a hard time to imagine shopper that spend $2K on a display but don't want spending $300 on a HD player...hmmmm.

Here in CDN, I see people cry, kick and jump every time the cost of gas go up 0.05 ...but purchase at the same time, they paid $1.50 for a 8oz of bottle water they can get free at home ?!? So I can belive the Reuter article, no problem.

According to the Reuters article, HDTV owners are not willing to spend more than $200 on a hi def player.

Let me get this straight. They'll spend c. $2000 on a display, but they're unwilling to spend 10% of that to view the the hi def content the display was designed for?
I don't think price is the issue.
I'd have to disagree,...how many people spend $4000 - $5000 on a display but are only willing to spend $500 -$800 for 5 speakers a sub and a receiver? Forums on the net are full of that kinda stuff,...no way they want to cough up more dough for a $500 DVD player cause that $49 Sanyo works just fine.
