Thanks, sjsmithjr. I had not come across that.

David, I'm guessing that almost every deal on here could be found with a search. People are just trying to point out things that they think others may not have noticed. (Yes, I know...you're referring to the other FS thread. Others may see this one without knowing the back story. Mostly, I'm just razzing you though, my friend! :))

Thanks David, and for everyone who doesn't know the backstory, I appreciate David's gently correcting me re the other thread and taking the time to razz me... who doesn't need a laugh? :p

No problem, it's all good.:)
I still stand that posting in someone's classified that the price is too high and then linking to a cheaper one is bad form. This forum is heavily moderated-if someone was a ripoff and trying to use the classifieds to take advantage of an unsuspecting member, I think they would be deleted. I do not think that was the case here.
Conversely, if the OP listed that same unit for $300, would you all jump in and tell him he was crazy, and link to higher priced aucions and sales?

And the site states they are an "authorized online retailer" with a 2 year warranty.

Good find

Ha! I hadn't checked the classifieds before the above post!
Great moderating, majorloser.
I post on another, non audio, board, (a fav musican's website), and there is no moderation. The three moderators all just post along and anything goes re: language and flames and thread hijacking. I thought I liked that footloose and fancy free style until I was under attack and the moderators did nothing.

Perfect job and one of the reason's I love Audioholics!

Solid point, David. I had not thought of that.

We haven't had many spam attacks either, and they are short lived. Long live the mods.:D
Word of our mods has no doubt spread throughout the net. Only the most naive or brazen of spammers will dare to try to infiltrate the Audioholics fortress.

Wow, didn't realize my FS post would give some people so much to talk about. I'll just clarify to the everyone why I jumped down his throat. I have been into the AV world for many years. I like to consider myself a fairly intelligent individual. The 875 has been tough to get. Even when companies have claimed having them in stock, when you place your order they inform you they are currently back ordered. This has been going on for quite some time. Go check over at AVS for the hundreds of posts stating this problem.

What really pisses me off is when someone posts in a FS thread that the price is too high, or a ripoff, etc. A good deal to one may not be to another. If that were the case I would be posting in everyone's threads that their prices are too high. If you were trying to be helpful and informative, which I highly doubt, you could have sent me a PM.

I wasn't pulling a PS3 price rape and marking it up 3 times the value. I was actually taking a loss on it as I purchased it from a local B&M for more money. In fact mods, you can delete the post altogether as the unit sold last night on the AVS forum. And instead of him posting that my price was too high, he PM'd me with an offer and we put it together like mature individuals.

Davidwotrees, thanks for saying what should be said, I respect that.

Update

I'll highjack my own thread back. :D Just thought I would update that ABT Electronics is now out of stock on the 875. Like everyone else, they're looking to have them back early October. Hopefully someone on this board was able to grab one of the few units they had.

Dangerous segway follows.

I can't help but notice that when selling used gear, sellers (and I'm not calling out any one person here) like to mention that they purchased it from an authorized dealer or that the warranty card hasn't been submitted. Almost all of the big manufacturers specifically state that their warranties extend only to the original purchaser and cannot be transferred to anyone.

Seems like a sticky might be in order for the classifieds section.
