"The Condemned" tells the story of Jack Conrad, who is awaiting the death penalty in a corrupt Central American prison. He is "purchased" by a wealthy television producer and taken to a desolate island where he must fight to the death against nine other condemned killers from all corners of the world, with freedom going to the sole survivor.

LOL.... this should be a hoot. This will be my Friday matinée so I can get things really cranking. I'm sure
"Running Man" had more than a little to do with inspiring this title.

Lowbrow action packed man-movies, anyone?

My current choices are all fresh/brand new DVD releases from this very week, which is the primary reason they are on tonights watch list. While it's true I have a soft spot for lowbrow man-movies & blockbuster popcorn flicks, my overall movie watching experience includes a very broad range of genres that includes little known independent movies, foreign language movies, and many "off main street" productions, etc, etc, etc.

The point being..... I am a fan of most movies, and I've seen a much larger percentage of new releases than most people can claim. Because of that, it's a given that several on my watch list might be considered.... "WTF is that?" material...LOL

With a premise of:

"Ten people will fight.
Nine people will die.
You get to watch."

How can you go wrong? LOL. High Def Digest gave it an average review and what I got out of it was basically "typical action flick". I don't have a problem with mindless action flicks at all, but they have to at least entertain.

The plot sounds similar to the movie with Ray Liotta where the criminals are dumped on an island and have to fend for themselves. Anyone know what I am talking about? I can't recall the name of the movie.

Check out Battle Royal if you want a good movie along those lines. Its about highschool students in Japan being dumped on an Island and having to fight for the death. It was pretty good IMO.

No Escape? I remember that one; it was fairly decent if I remember correctly. They were prisoners dumped on an island though, so it was a little different.

Plus that one had Go-Go from Kill Bill in it. Although she doesn't wear the hot school-girl outfit.

This movie delivered exactly as expected. I rate movies based on how much I enjoyed the movie watching experience, I had a lot of fun watching this one.

In fact, it was a ton of fun..... 4 stars.
