Acoustic Treatments - Where/How?

I'm looking for advice on where & how to treat my room beyond the reflection points. The main listening & viewing area is approximately 15.5’ across, with windows on one side. The side with the windows is approx. 60’ long. The bar comes across on an angle behind the main seating area, starting at about 18’. There is carpet in the main seating area, and ceramic tile in the bar area.

The speakers are Paradigm Studio 20 v.4’s (toed in)& CC-590 (angled down) in the cabinet resting on Auralex Mopads, surrounded by 4” Studio Foam Wedges.

Any Ideas.

Thanks,

EdL

PS – I toss some black cloth across the pictures to cut the reflections when I’m doing some real TV watching.

For bass trapping I would straddle as many panels as possible (or the wife will let you:D) in the listening area. It seems to me the only places you could do this would be in the upper corners along the walls.
For the early reflections I would go with panels on the right side and HEAVEY curtains on the left.

Glenn,

LOL - The W, always a factor.

But seriously, do you mean bass traps (corner wedge thing-a-bobs) where the ceiling and walls meet? I don't have any right angles except the area over the bar where the cabinet comes out of the wall.

I was also thinking of putting something across the wall in the back across the wall (60' away) to stop the sound from bouncing back into the main seating area.

Will the panels mess with the sound from my Omnisat rear surrounds?

Thanks,

EdL

I think panels back there would be fine. I would put 4" or more and space them off the wall if you can.

Glenn,

Thanks for the direction. I'm pretty sure the corner bass traps on the ceiling will be a hard sell if they are foam. As far as the back wall goes, I'll have to measure off of the wall 5 - 6 inches and see if it interferes with the pool table.

I'll let you know what I come up with.

FOAM!? We don't sell no stinkin' foam! ;)

It would be cloth covered panels with a mineral wool core.
