General room treatment

Hey guys/gals -

I posted this in the general area...not realizing this forum was here...doh!

I'm looking at prepping my wee den to make some sort of home theatre. The room is tiny...approx 16'8" X 8'6". I've done some research into bass traps...I can purchase some at a fairly reasonable cost, or I can make some as well (cheaper, but obviously more work) I'm thinking I'd like to first put some other sort of treatment on the walls ie. acoustics panels to cut down on reflection etc. I see "Ready Acoustics" sells both. Any suggestions on how many & where to place them? Assuming they're 4'X2' panels?

The layout is such that I have a doorway (soon to be drywalled with a door) at one end, then a sliding glass door to the outside at the other end, opposite side. The ceiling height is your standard 8ft. Obviously I'll have my TV etc at one end (by the doorway/drywalled portion)

I'm also pre-wired for a set of surround speaks on the back wall. I was told by several installers that a 5.1 setup is more than sufficient...the room size doesn't justify 7.1.

I have a sketch of the room, but it's too big to post here...shucks!

Any suggestions/tips would be most excellent!!
