I bought something similar to this except that it is 14-4 as opposed to 14-2. I split it with a friend so it was around $80 for 250'. Good enough. I'm using 2 of the wires for + and the other 2 for - naturally. If I recall correctly 2 wire of the same guage brings the guage down 3 so 2 14g =11g.

My ? is regarding wheather or not this whole combination of wires and twisted pairs is getting me into the area of high capacitance where my "highs are rolling off"? The reason I ask is because with a DVD of the Blue Man Group there is a part where a Blue Man knocks his drum sticks together at the beginning of a song and I can't really hear it that well. I can hear it just fine on a friends system. My gear is listed in my sig.. What really has me bumming is knowing that if I'm not hearing that then there is other stuff I could be hearing. Getting all I can out of what I have is where it's at for me. TIA:)

I doubt that the setup your using with those wires right now would result in excessively high capacitance. A couple known designs with high capacitance are the Cat5 speaker cables and some kimber designs. Both of which use quite a bit more conductors than what your using.

Just to be sure maybe you can take your set of cables to your buddys place and see if you notice any difference on his system with those cables.

No, not with speaker wires. Impedances are just not there in speaker cables to affect frequency roll off. Inductance can, but you need a lot of that. But, high capacitance cable can upset an amp, some amps, that is. Naim is one that goes into self destruct mode.:D
