Hi,

I'm using a HDMI cable direct from the DVD play to the Mits WD 73831 and according to the mits manual i only need one HDMI cable to recieve both the video and audio. however, only the video is working. I know the dvd sends both becuase i hooked it up to the 42 inch sony and no problems. Given the hook up to the sony worked it can't be the DVD play (ARCAM 137) it must be the mits. any ideas why i'm not getting the audio? FYI, i tried both HDMI connects and the same issue exists.

thank you for your help

I'd suggest checking what audio signal is being passed over HDMI and whether the new TV can handle that. I wonder if you'll need to send just a stereo signal to the TV.

I'm fairly ignorant on HDMI, but I thought that I'd throw that idea out there. Good luck.

Run through the Net Command setup in the Mits and make sure that both "Video" and "Audio" are checked for the HDMI input that you want to use.

Also, check the audio options in the DVD player and make sure that the option for HDMI audio is set to "PCM" or "Auto" (not Dolby Digital).

It's obviously something in your setup of the DVD player or the monitor that's not right. I'm not familiar with either of those models, but you should find it if you follow the setup instructions for the HDMI connections.

thanks for the info. hopefully someone smarter than me can tell me if the following statment makes a difference....

"HDMI™ with DVI Stereo Audio" does that mean I need another cable for digital audio/or i need to do something different in the set up? if not, what does it mean?

thanks again

HDMI carries digital video and audio. DVI carries digital video only. If you're using DVI as an output or input, you'll need additional cables for the audio. If available, optical or coaxial is best quality. If not, use R/L RCA.

If you are referring to an HDMI input on the TV then that simply means that it has an analog audio input for use when you connect a DVI device with via an adapter. If bother devices are HDMI then a separate audio cable is not necessary.

Have you entered the NetCommand setup and made sure that the "Audio" check box is checked for the HDMI input? Also, have you checked the HDMI settings on your DVD player? What is the make and model of your DVD player?
