Hello all

I am going to purchase a 42 or 46 LCD in the next month.

I like the looks of the sony Bravia any ideas for the best LCD 180P 10,000 to1 contrast ratio

Am I ok to purchase at Best buy or should I go to a home theatre store

Should I buy the aftermarket warrantys

Should I pay them to set up whole system

Any thoughts to these questions I have been reading and looking at the various items and it is so overwhelming that I cannot make a decision

I am not the biggest Sony fan when it comes to their TVs. You should also check out sharp and Toshiba as they are making good LCDs right now. Also, don't get caught up in contrasts because there are a variety of things that manufactures use to bolster them to look better than they are in reality.

If you want a great deal buy online. If you are planing on buying a HT soon and want to get good deals on a receiver and set of speakers then go to an audio shop and make friends. It pays off in the long run :).

Don't bother with after market warranties they are designed so you lose.

If you have the ability to set up the TV yourself do it, but read the warranty information before you do. Some manufacturers will void your warranty if you hang it on a wall yourself.

Hi, and welcome.
I would suggest asking yourself if you really need 1080p? Broadcast Tv will not be in 1080p and those TVs are still at a premium.
