Experience with Sonicboom Audio

I was wondering if anyone has experience with Sonicboomaudio? So far, I've been pretty disappointed with the level of service I am receiving.

So I went the the Sonicboomaudio website to look see how much the SVS Ultra 13" sub goes for in Canada, and decided to order a Radio Shack SPL 16 days ago. The website showed "ready to ship" and said orders take 8-10 days. So I bit the bullet and ordered the SPL.

10 days later, I call SVS and tell them that I didn't get the product yet. The person on the phone told me not to worry, and that they ran out of SPLs, but received a new shipment a few days after my order and that my order was on it's way.

Fast foward to today, I call up again. This time, the person on the phone tells me that my order has not been shipped. In fact, they ran out of SPLs and the owner "just went out to get some." I told the person on the phone that I was told the pretty much the same thing the week before. He then put me on hold for a short time, came back and asked me if it was okay if the owner called me later that day. I agreed.

Now here I am, the entire day has passed, I did not receive a follow-up call. No SPL. No idea when I will receive the call. No idea if I will ever see my order.

The worst part of it right now is that I was wanting to order the Ultra 13 from them, but as things are progressing, I'm not sure if I would want to make such a large purchace from them.

If anyone has experience with Sonicboom, please let me know.

I got my SVS from Sonic Boom. I too had to wait quite a while to get my PB12-Plus shipped and very nearly cancelled my order. Here's the thread of my experience.

Sonic Boom may leave something to be desired, but SVS's customer service is exceptional and they will tow Sonic Boom back into line.

What I did is cc copies to SVS of all my e-mails to Sonic Boom, including the ones that said if I don't recieve it by Monday, don't ship it because the order is cancelled. One of the owners of SVS pulled some strings and my SVS was expidited and arrived the same day.

Call or e-mail SVS again. Tell them you are very unhappy with Sonic Boom and that it may affect your decision to buy the Ultra. Don't be shy about mentioning Audioholics either.

The customer service at SVS will over-ride whatever is going on at Sonic Boom to make sure you are happy, especially with an Ultra sale pending.

Thanks for the replay Davemcc. I've read your thread with great interest and it so far, it sounds similar to my experience.

I really want the Ultra 13, but this level of service is enough to kill the deal for me. Judging by their track record, it seems that this is pretty much the norm for that company. I would consider bringing my business elsewhere as I have no interest in having to constantly having to follow up with them. I've already paid about 20 mins of long distance fees, so....

My second question.

Where else can I get an Ultra 13 from? Can I get it directly from SVS?

you should email svs with that question, with the reason why you want to purchase direct instead of through sonicboomaudio ...

we can't really guess what svs is going to reply to that.

Thanks for the tip. I just fired off an e-mail to them. I'll do another follow up with sonicboom tomorrow and see if they even shipped it yet. 16 days.. wow.

Yes, you may want to fill SVS in on your troubles too. They may need to find a better rep up there. :eek:

Did you mention the upcoming Ultra 13 sale? SVS will move heaven and earth to make Sonic Boom deliver whenever there is an issue directly concerning SVS' sales or post-delivery service.

Update:

I wrote a message to SVS on the 28th and they followed up with Sonicboomaudio for me. They told me that the order was shiped and on route and that Sonicboom would send me an email with the tracking info. They also told me that Sonicboom is the only way I can get an SVS sub directly, as SVS doesn't ship direct to Canada.

As of today, I still haven't received any e-mails from them, so I decided to give them a call. I spoke to a person named Kevin, and he was quite helpful. He has confirmed that the meter has been shipped and is now in the west coast, so I should be getting it either today or tomorrow.

The only thing that I am disappointed with is that they do not have a reason on why it took so long to be shipped out or why I was given the wrong information about the shipping.

If the information Kevin has given is correct, I would be inclined to go ahead and make the Ultra 13 purchase. My fingers are now crossed!

Good question. I still don't have it yet, but I can see on UPS that it's out of Sonicboomaudio's hands. I'm guessing it's due to the long weekends, so I'll let that slide. But it better be here in the next two days or else!

Jeez... almost a month to get an SPL?

I put an order in with them over the phone last friday for a 5.0 set of speakers, we'll see how long it takes, he said they may arrive this week

Well, I received my SPL today. It's great was very helpful in calibration. So, ordered on Aug 12th, arrived Sept 4th....hmmmm...now to see how long it takes for the sub to arrive!
