BUT..while i'm running a 5.1 setup with a receiver with 7 X 110W, i wont be able to power those subs with that receiver will I? i will need a seperate amp???
Most subs come with their own amps. Except the DIY subs.

Not everyone needs brain crushing bass. I have a single 15" in my 23x13.5 w/high vaulted ceiling room and it can be felt everywhere in my house.

The 25-31PCi has quite a bit of output. I would start with a single sub like this one and see how you like it. If it isn't enough, you can always add a second. There is no such thing as too much sub, but you have to start somewhere...

thats when it becomes wayy over my budget, I am very handy, and have all the tools and resources to build boxes [as i've built them before for car subs] but i really dont think i can afford to go with a non-powered option
Check out Parts Express, they have good drivers for good prices, and a Behringer EP1500 or EP2500 would be under $300. And as the Behringers are stereo amps, you can go duel subs and only buy one amplifier.

Warp has kind-of lost his mind when it comes to subs.

I did too.... !!!!!!!

Everyone here has their own perception of what they should do...., I was just adding a cost alternative thought process to the mix....

The SVS Plus line is very reasonable, and will give you great bass in your room, start with 1 and you can add another later.... thats what I did, and it worked out great....

Once Im done with the Hot Tub deck, I will be looking forward to the building of my subs... That will be a fun project....
I just figured that for the price of the drivers, some lumber, and an amp, you could get some really ssssserious output, as well as superb sound quality.

the problem with the SVS is to ship a sub to my address it will cost 265$ in shipping costs and duty..

For the DIY route... you can take TC-Sounds out of the equation, as they have raised their prices now to "Out of this world status"

Im glad I pulled the trigger on my Dual 15" TC-2000's...

And that was a good suggestion on the external amps...

You can make 2 boxes, each with a 12 or 15" driver and buy an external amp like suggested, and have awesome bass for a fraction of the cost, but in the looks dept, if thats important, SVS is hard to beat for the money....

The CSS products are excellent drivers, and the kits make it a no brainer for the money.... I have read about lots of builds with CSS drivers... They measure as good if not the same as the medium quality TC-Sounds drivers..

Good Luck with your descision... :)

I will second Sonciboomaudio.com. That's where I got my SVS.

I was really shooting for Dual boxes..... but I think Im going to part ways on that Idea, and do 2 of this build.... The Boxes will end up taking too long, and the cost on 2 Sonotubes will be alot cheaper and easier then building boxes...

$275 each for the 15" drivers... and maybe $100.00 for construction materials..
plus the amp...

The CSS drivers will be excellent in this application as well...

I thought you required beautiful, furniture grade stuff. Although I think cylinders are awesome; they donat have "the look".

I agree.... but I do have some time constraints... and these enclosures will fit very easy in that realm... That way I can get a feel for how the TC drivers perform.... compared to the SVS's
Its looking like a 11.3 cu ft box... that is huge... just to give you an idea, the SVS Plus/2 is 6.3 cu ft.. almost 2x the size...:eek:
So the Foot print will be easier to work with here....

But the Graph Response after modeling, is showing 116db at 16hz....
So there will be a ton of power, not that Im looking for insane, but that looks damn nice... More headroom then I would ever need...

i've ended up going with a local source who has been recomended to me by various people, Creatvie Sound is based within 20 minutes of my house, and i've heard nothing but good things from people, here's what i ended up going with:

http://www.creativesound.ca/details.php?model=SD12LT350

imo it was the best for me because from what i've heard, they are excellent drivers, and excellent customer support, so in the near future i will most likely be adding a 2nd to my HT

thanks again for all the help along the way, any advice on that sub i purchased is always welcomed as well

Very nice.

There is nothing quite like being able to do +1dB over reference level... anechoic... at 16Hz. :D
