Which Klipsch sub did you have?
This is a very pertinent question.
I talked to the guy at the dealer, he said he liked the sound quality of the Klipsch subs, so much that you could set the cross over to a higher Hz.
Not really sure what this means, exactly. Why would you want to set the subwoofer's crossover setting, either at the sub or with your receiver, higher than is necessary for your speakers? I think what the dealer is hinting at is that the subwoofer performs better than some subs do at higher frequencies. This characteristic is often somewhat erroneously, but not necessarily entirely erroneously, attributed to a subwoofer's percieved "musicality".
They had either the RW-12d or the RT-10d. The RSW-10d is right in the middle.
It may be in the middle model-wise, price-wise, and power-wise, but it's much closer in both design and implementation to the RT-10d than to the RW-12d.
I think it should be a little over kill for my Klipsch KG5.5's.
Probably not overkill. With dual 10" woofers and a low-end F3 of 34Hz, those are some formidable speakers. But the RSW-10d will be fine with them.
Sivadselim, what was your thoughts on the RSW-10d?
I've never heard the RSW-10d, but I have heard all of the older-generation RSW subwoofers (I have an RSW15). The old RSW-10 was a great subwoofer. Very tight, very accurate, and very powerful.
RSW-10 specs:
385watts continuous power, 1150watt peaks
29-120Hz (+/-3dB)
109dB@30Hz, 1/8th space, 1 meter
RSW-10d specs:
500watts continuous power, 1200watt peaks
24-120Hz (+/-3dB)
114dB@30Hz, 1/8th space, 1 meter
On all counts, the new RSW-10d trumps the older RSW-10, so I would expect it to be a great-sounding and great-performing subwoofer.
