I thought I was getting a great deal on a pair of Klipsch RF-83 towers for 1699.00 including tax and shipping. I purchased the towers when a call came several days later telling me the credit card machine was down. Then after arranging paypal payment, he messed that up as well. Trying to call, I couldn't get through, just a message center. I called from a different number and an immediate pick up. Same guy, Woody, at a different extension (probably ran from his garage). The speakers finally arrive, and I had to drive 35 minutes away to pick them up, so much for free shipping. Once home I noticed the box was penetrated, the screen was cracked, and the 2 woofer was bent. They sounded fine, but I wanted to have "New". I called the company, and sent several emails, only to hear they won't return them.
I just want to share this, as I am upset, and disappointed. I am on a very fixed income, and occasionally I come into a bit of money outside of my disability to purchase my normally used equipment. I can't afford to deal with these kind of people.
Again, I hope this can help someone else.

Aw, crud. Sorry to hear that. $1700 clams is a lot of money to me as well, and I can't imagine having it go bad like that. Did the paypal go through? Supposedly they can help with a bad transaction. Write down everything that has happened, and keep a log of calls and dates. Take pictures if you own a camera, if not go get a disposable one and take some piccies. Do not accept the situation! Hound this person till he makes it right.

Send a complaint to the city BBB where that guy is.
Was it insured in shipping and advertised as new?

He said I took too long for the insurance. I called the next day. He asked to see pics now, so I'm going to send them and see how it goes.

If the packing box has damages, send pictures of that too. Where did you pick it up? Was it sent by UPS? A trucking outfit?

This sounds rather simple. First, one day is not 'too long' to wait for an insurance claim - typically you have at least 30 days and your state laws may allow even more.

Secondly, although a merchant may have a no returns policy, it cannot be 'no returns even if damaged'. If it is damaged they would be obligated to make it right - unless you were specifically offered shipping insurance and declined. A letter/complaint to the BBB would be a good start but a call to the state's attorney general may be of more use if you continue to get the runaround.

Did you pay by credit card, or Paypal? You can call your credit card company and dispute the charges.

I'm not sure of Paypals rules for this type of incident.

People need to STOP accepting damaged packages. A little impatience on the front end has now cost you time on the backend.

If a shipment is visibly damaged, refuse it. That's trackable and you're credit card company will refund you and go after the shipper or merchant if they don't make it right.

Absolutely Clint...common sense.

But in this case, the buyer may very well be sol because, in his own words:
"Once home I noticed the box was penetrated, the screen was cracked, and the 2 woofer was bent."

So, if I may augment, do not accept damaged packaging, and you may forfeit all rights once you:
accept delivery, pick them up, load them, drive 35 minutes with them in your vehicle, unload them, and only then notice "shipping damage."

The box was sent through a trucking company. The boxes were strapped together, with a plastic shrink wrap. When I picked them up, I didnt see the damage. I noticed the damage after removing the shrink wrap, but it didn't look that bad. I removed the speaker, and it appeared fine. Later, I removed the screen and noticed the damage. The screen looks normal, but when you turn it over, the plastic on the back is broken. On the woofer you can see a fork lift mark.

I called paypal, they couldn't help.
I won't be surprised if your credit card company says the same thing. This is the unfortunate scenario when one fails to note the damage at delivery, or, in your case, the dock.

Hopefully, you can arrive at some sort of resolution with the shipper. They are, after all, the ones seemingly at fault. No one else. Maybe the best you can hope for is each of you covering half of the damages. Good luck.

If you have to eat the loss, how bad is the damage? If the cabinet box isn't damaged, and it is just a woofer and the grill, you could order those parts from klipsh and be done with the mess.

I'm going to ask Klipsch. Thanks, that's the easiest way to do this.
