Hello everyone, I just purchased an Yamaha yht 280 and I hooked it up and it's working fine with the dvd and my tv meaning cable.

On the back of my tv there is something called HD ColorStream 1 and HD ColorStream 2.

I have the component cables hd cables for my 360 and I put them into the back of the tv in HD colorstream 1. I get audio from my tv and a picture on my tv also but the question I have is, how do I get it to work with my home theater?

I don't know how else to explain or what more to say but I can take pictures of the back of my tv and the home theater receiver if it helps, thanks everyone. :)

You have a Toshiba TV? There should be some sort of audio out jacks -- probably composite (red and white) and optical. Use either one to get audio into your HT system.

Yes an Toshiba 57H83. There are out audio jacks, many of them on the back of the tv, I also have no idea where to put the other end on the home theater receiever. I have a page of the manual for the home theater system and tv from a website showing the diagrams of the back of them, cause I have no idea what I am doing.

The Receiver will have a bunch of input jacks...red and white. It should also have a bunch of optical inputs, they're little black holes with a shutter door or plug. You should see them labeled as CD, DVD, TV, etc. Let's say you're using RCA. Connect the red and white cables to the TV audio out red and white. Connect the other end to the TV input red and white. Set the receiver to TV and you should have sound :)

Optical is better, if you have it on the receiver. They're usually in a line down the left side of the receiver, if you're looking at it from the back. If you have optical, use it instead of the rca's.

Your other option is to run the sound directly to the receiver from the xbox and bypass the tv.

Once I get to 5 posts I can show you the diagram of the receiver and tv itself from the back.

The receiver has Aux on the front for video game consoles, I used that and I was only getting sound from it and tried to switch my tv to video 1 and many other things and couldn't get a picture.

All I'm trying to figure out is where exactly I am supose to hook up the receiver to the tv because I have picture and sound when I have it hooked up the way I do now, but I just want to get it to my surround sound and not sure how to do that.

Ok here it is, I made it bigger so it was easier to see.

Back of the tv

Now all I have hooked up in the back of the tv of course is my cable line, with my cable box and my dvd hooked up to it and the Xbox 360 hooked up to the "Colorstream hd 1", how would I go about connecting my tv to the receiver so I can get the xbox 360 to work on the surround sound?

Under OUT on the TV, connect the Mono/L to DTV/CBL L under Audio on the receiver. Connect the R under OUT on the TV to the R on DTV/CBL under Audio on the receiver.

Not sure if your TV has an optical out (can you scroll up...looks like there may be something between ANT1 and ANT2...)
