Hi-Res Audio on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray

I'm finally contemplating entering the hi-def DVD world, although I'm still holding out for a universal HD/BR player. Anyway, it doesn't look like the current players will play SACD or DVD-Audio discs. Is this correct, and if so, is it a realistic possibility for future players? Thanks.

It seems as though Sony is all about BR at the moment, not SACD. The DSD technology is already on the ground, so I don't see any issues with it being included in the future. I think it's more about marketing right now and Sony has never really made much sense on that front.

The new Denon lineup even has them split up but the PS3 supports SACD, yet no multi-channel. Perhaps they will later thru HDMI but who knows.

Ahh. The universal player trap. That would be the ultimate though, wouldn't it guys? A combo HD/BR/SACD/DVDA/MP3 player...all for $199.00. Not yet...not yet.;)

Not sure about the other players, but the PS3 will play SACD. The bad news is, NO Sony player does DVD-A.

Alternative solution, though not the best one, is to pick up an Oppo universal to handle SD DVD and DVD-A/SACD duty and a High Def player for the new stuff.
