I am setting up home theater and karaoke systems. I have separate dedicated speakers for the home theater (Klipsch) and karaoke (Mackie). The receiver for the home theater is a Marantz SR8001 and the karaoke speakers are powered from a mixing board. I am considering a Velodyne HGS-12X or JL Audio Fathom f112 as the sub. Home theater and karaoke speakers will not be on at the same time but want to be able to use the sub for both systems without having to pull/swap cables and re-calibrate each time. Seems I should be able to run RCA outs from the Karaoke mixing board to one of the inputs on the Marantz and then switch the Marantz to that input to mix the sub in with the Karaoke speakers. The Marantz has a dedicated sub output but it does not appear to be switchable to different inputs. Anyone have any ideas here?

Not having to pull/swap cables is addressed by the statement you made, second quote above. All you have to do is turn the HT speakers off when you want to use the karaoke speakers otherwise you will have sound from the HT speakers also. The Marantz should let you do that. Calibration on the other hand will have to change since the Marantz will be calibrated to your HT. I belive the Velodyne SMS-1 allows you to save different calibration settings. So you can save one setting for the HT and another for the karaoke.

It is switched to different inputs. Why do you believe differently?

Sub line level inputs

A lot of subs have stereo line level inputs and you can connect a single RCA to either input. You could connect the receiver to the Left input and Mixer to the Right input or vise versa. Double check the manual of the sub in question to verify.
