I was thinking about starting an 80's hairband vinyl collection and I want a nice but not to expensive turntable. Could someone please give me a recommendation? I am looking not to spend over 1000.00.

A couple of brands you can check out are Music Hall and Rega.

A couple of good websites for turntables is Acoustic Sounds and Turntable Doctor. I've purchased from both of these sites with good experiences. If you haven't looked into the vinyl world recently, you won't believe the array of turntables and LPs that are available. Some of the high end turntable prices will curl your hair, but you can get some very nice units for well under $1k.

I think the greatest gaines in vinyl performance really comes from the heads. I may receive a lot of flack for saying it but maintaining a constant rpm is not rocket science. I use a Shure in my old Technics quartz drive.

Thorens, or Pro Ject. Entry levels are lower then 1000 bucks. Used the saved dough to swap out the ortofon 10 for a Sumiko, and your good to go.

Try Audiogon, I've seen some 1200's at great prices.
