Not a bad system but I was not that impressed with Paradigms below the studio series. I was also disappointed in all their subs until I heard the Servo. What else have you listened to? How big is your listening room in cubic feet? What is this system for (% music vs. % HT)

Paradigm is a very good speaker manufacturer. Have you auditioned this system? How did it sound to you?

I did not like the sound of the Monitor series when I auditioned them. But it was the last version, and not the new Monitor series.

Do you need front Tower speakers?

I also recommend not getting the Paradigm sub. You would be better off with one of these subwoofers.

The room is 16.5x13x8= 1716 cubic feet. Hardwood floors and plaster walls. The system I'm looking to put together will serv as my primary home sound system. Music and movies. Keep in mind I am very green to all of this. I have put about 20 hrs of research in this, both web and real life. I have listened to the monitor 9s directly next to the Klipsch speakers that I thought I wanted. The Klipsch sounded muddy in the midrange to me.
I did not have the opportunity hear the sub. The paradigms were much cleaner sounding (to me). "Do I need tower speakers?" I don't know. As I stated, I am learning. What are the draw backs with the Paradigm subs?

Nice system with one caveat. I own (it's in the closet gathering dust) a PDR-8. It's a very poor sub. Boomy poorly defined bass is the problem for me. I have not heard the PDR-10, but it would not be on my list of subs to consider based on my experience with the PDR-8.

Nick I agree. I used to own a PDR-12 and it was awful. Lots of :eek:farting sounds -even at low volumes. Do yourself a favor and get a better sub. The Servo15 is a different story altogether. You may want to look at av123.com where the 8" sub is a lot of bang for the buck. Good luck in your decision. :):)

Paradigms

Had the 9's with 5's as surrounds. Used a B&W sub with a 350 center in about the same living area. But have a rug on the floor. I've since upgraded to Studio 100's and 20's. The nines are great speakers for the price. Never had an issue with them. Both setups were powered with a Rotel 1090 and 1095. Before you make the plunge, give B&W 600 and 700 series a listen. Different sound for sure. Try and hear everything you can before you lay down the cash.
