Speaker and Receiver combination
Mark,
You have a couple pieces of equipment that are somewhat redundant. First, you have the Yamaha YSP. This is designed to simulate 5.1 suround sound and should work well in small, square rooms with walls on all sides. You can connect a few digital and analog audio inputs directly to the YSP and you do not need a receiver. Connect video directly to the TV.
Second, you have a great receiver, the Yamaha RX-V2700. This is designed to drive a 5.1 or 7.1 speaker system, which you don't have. If you want to take advantage of the receiver, get a 5.1 speaker setup instead of the YSP. There are several good options in the same price range as the YSP.
I have one of the URC remotes, the URC-300. It works great and gives you complete control, but can take time to setup every time I change my equipment. You might consider getting one of the Harmony remotes for $1-200 because the web interface makes it easier to select your A/V gear and program the remote.
