It all depends on the type of TV's you are comparing. When talking about flat panels you have plasma and LCD. The top plasmas in my opinion are Pioneer and Panasonic. As far as LCD goes I like Sharp and Sony.

I don't have much of an opinion on other types of tvs as I haven't done the research.

Have you consulted Consumers Report? They have been reviewing flat panels frequently in the past couple of years.

Practically every CRT TV I've ever owned has been a Toshiba and I've been satisfied with all of them.

I see Toshiba is about to release their 2007 Regza Cinema Series LCD. It's too soon to see reviews but they just may give the Sharps a run for the money.

One thing I noticed in their spec sheet is '4096 color gradations to eliminate image banding'. Hmmm...is that potentially a jab at Sharp considering some of the complaints about 'banding' on Sharp LCDs?

I have a Toshiba RPTV and I'm extremely happy with the PQ. It still (to my eye) beats out many Plasma's and LCD's priced under 2k. From what I've seen they also produce some excellent DLP RPTV's for reasonable prices.

I don't have any experience with their LCD flat panels, though they don't rate as highly as Sony, Sharp, and Samsung.
