Good day every one,
It's been a long time I been chating on the site but I been on a different project...my 4th kid...(A beautiful black Mustang 2004). Now I need some advice with new gear I am buying.

I just order ( not receive yet )the Optoma H70 and the new HD-DVD, Toshiba HD-A20. I know the H70 is 720p and the A20 is the 1080p, but I choose the H70 for three reason; #1 Money ! #2 all the great reviews I read about it and last, my infocus X1 (that still have a petty good picture) was due for a upgrade.

Now there is my question...

My receiver is a Denon 3805, I love that receiver and it statify me to the max. But it lack HDMI connection. Now my plan is to hook the A20 directly to the H70 via HDMI, and pass the audio from the A20 to the AVR 3805 with the optical digital connection.( the same setup I currently have with my 3805, DVD player and my X1 )

Will this cause any problem ? Or I will have to upgrade me 3805 for a receiver with HDMI connection ?

Thanks

The way you described your connection is the proper way to do things. HDMI direct from the device to the projector and run the audio via digital optical or digital coaxial into the 3805.

If you find, in the future, you need more than one HDMI connection then you may be interested in checking out a stand alone HDMI switcher which you can get online. The 5x1 HDMI switcher from www.monoprice.com comes in under 100 bucks.

From one Mustang owner(2006 GT Windveil Blue) to another howdy:) The setup will be fine for the A20 to the HD70. I recently went from a Infocus SP5000 to a HD70, and other than the occasional Rainbows, I love this Projector. I currently have my PS3, and Cable box running to the projector via HDMI. I am using the switching from my Pre-Pro, and using the Optical and Digital Coax for the sound.

Because your A20 does not have 5.1 Multichannel outputs, the only way you can have DD TrueHD or DTS-HD audio is through HDMI. Therefore, your receiver must have HDMI inputs capable of passing through (without processing) audio decoded by the HD DVD player.

Yep , I knew that I could not get "DD TrueHD" or "DTS-HD" but I will still get the "normal" 5.1 and DTS ? if this is the only thing I miss, I can live with that.

My fear is about synchronisation of the video and audio thogether. I read a lots about the first Generation of HD DVD and synchronisation problem and that the HDMI 1.3 is suppose to fix that problem, but my audio will not go via the HDMi......

By the way thanks for the reply, I knew I could count on getting the right info from the member of this site !

You should have no sync problem using a digital connection for sound and HDMI for Video. I use HDMI/DVI cable for video and 5.1 multichannel analogs or SPDIF optical audio and have no sync problem.

The lossless audio brings more presence within a movie, example, a door closes on the side or in the back and it becomes so real that one's reflex is to turn around to see who is there! With my unit, HD-A1, the analog audio makes CD listening equivalent to a $2,500 CD player. Whether that is true for an A20, I don't know.
