I've seen numerous people discuss using an aftermarket power cord on power amplifiers, do any good results actually come from this? Should I look at buying a better aftermarket power cord for am adcom gfa 7605, and if so, what are some good ones?

Yes it puts money in the coffers of the power cord company. For you, not so much benefit.

Power cord

I don't buy into the power cord voodoo either.
If you think about it, you have 12 AWG or 14 AWG romex running from your circuit breaker all the way to the outlet in your room. The short power cord from the outlet to your gear wont make much difference.

I did notice that my APC H10 came with a thick audophile-type power cord with gold plated terminals. Some of the people on audiogon would pay more for that type of cable than I did for the power center.

That's good for the unemployment rates:D
Otherwise those poor guys be in the soup kitchens begging;)

If it's not broken , don't fix it . A new power cord is not going to make any difference in how your amp sounds . If you really want a better sounding amp, buy a different one.

Too sum it up, power cord upgrades are nonsense. Do you think adcom would sell a gfa 7605 with a power cord that would compromise the sound quality of your system?

Not at all, but there is so much voodoo crap floating around in the a/v community, it's nice to check in sometimes and see what upgrades actually makes sense. My favorite voodoo nonsense to date: Coming across those multi hundred glass speaker cable isolaters--people serioulsy shell out money on that crap?

Think of it this way. There are miles of wire between you and the power company's generators. Does it make sense that replacing the last three feet of it is going to improve the electricity in any way?

Well, yeah. The power cord rearranges the molecules and electrons so they work better in your electronics!:D

A good rule of thumb when looking at audio accessories, if it sounds like phooey, then you can bet it is probably phooey.;)

The simple answer is no. The power cord that came with my RGPC line conditioner was clearly above grade, but not worth what they ask for retail. You can buy a good power cord at a computer supply store that would make an adequate replacement.

Oh, yes. The modern power cord has come a long way and is packed with new and powerful technology. I believe Nordost has a secret proprietary blend of gold and silver wire that is the ultimate marriage of metallurgy and science! :D
I hope to one day hook the Nordost Blue Sapphire Diamond Gold Silver speaker cables to my BOSE double cubes that I am currently vertically biamping:eek:

And when you do that you will finally upgrade those Bose double cubes to reference quality products, making the marriage of the two an audiofile's dream..

Oh, baby. That'll be one glorious day. People will be waiting in lines around the block at their favorite Bose store, perhaps even dressed up as their favorite Bose item. I think that I'll go as a wave radio.
