Hey guys,

The J series from paradigm cost a leg and an arm, the S series seems reasonable but not in stock!!. Did any one use other stands for Paradigm reference series studio 40 v3s?. Does any manufacturer match the top plate with the speaker? so that I secure the speaker using screws?.

How to check for compatibility with third party makers for speaker stands?.

I never got speaker stands and I do not want to drill holes to my paradigms any help is much appreciated.

Im sure most speaker stands you can get, you can just drill holes in them, after measuring, and use th screw holes avail, on the studio's...

racksandstands.com standsandmounts.com are some good places, with lots of choices..

top plate has to match the speaker dimensions?

studio 40 v3 dimensions are 8-1/4 in x 12-3/4 in (Width x Depth), I am unable to find any 18" stand that matches the above dimensions, larger on is also no issue.

Any one knows if one can order for custom top plate with these dimensions?

See if the dealer you bought all your gear from will work with you on the paradigm stands. They listed for 350 bucks at my dealer but he let me have them for 150.

WarpDrv pretty much covered everything. A stand is just a stand. As long as it's solid, reasonably well built and looks good (if that matters to you) and your speaker does not fall off it you are fine. In the real world, the stand hight just needs to be reasonably close to ideal to matter much, if at all. When you are listening to your system do you make sure you and everyone else has their ears at the perfect height to match the speakers? Nice speakers, enjoy them!

18"? Do you sit on the floor? I used the 26" stands from them. Have you checked out the next level down in terms of stands from 'Digm, the S-series? Should be only $100 for the 26" ones. They aren't as nice as the J-series, but they'll do the job and the 26" ones are fillable. The others can be filled too, but have holes in them for passing wire through so you have to plug the bottom hole to fill them. The S26 has two supports, you simply fill one of them.

Even better IMO, the high mass stands at Parts Express: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=240-744 (also available in 18" height for a few dollars less).

I have a pair of Omnimount WD24’s that I got off ebay for like $40 and they seem to work well and are very sturdy. I was worried about resting my 17lbs MC-6C’s on them with curious cats around but they provide great support. Astatically they work fine next to my IKEA furniture, but depending on the rest of you home they may be a lil cheesy.

I thought the tweeter should be at ear level?, thats like almost 20 1/2" from the base of the speaker, when I sit on the sofa my ear level is at 38" from the ground, that gives me 18" for the stands, unless I really got something wrong here?, let me know.

Yes, ear level is right; but that doesn't take into account one other small factor and that is how close the tweeter is to the floor, which can also have a negative effect depending on how far you sit from the speakers. If you are further, you want the tweeters slightly higher. Is your floor carpeted or hardwood/tile etc...?

PE also has the medium mass versions, which are about half the price of the high mass ones. I have owned those too - not as nice as the high mass, but still very good considering the price.

The Paradigm Studio 100's are 44 1/2" tall..... and the Studio 60's are 40 1/2" tall, I would think that anything in that area would be just fine.

Any stand in the 18" to 22" would be fine... don't limit yourself to 1 height, and you will have a lot more choices that will match your decor... The adjustable feet are what your looking for, to get the tweeter in the right direction...

I searched for a long time to find stands that I liked...

Lovan makes some beautiful stuff, http://www.lovanusa.com/index.php?cPath=1&osCsid=0ad6cdaf2a674e940ea14ce71b89ccec

The Jazz style look way heavy duty to me, maybe not very WAF friendly..

Those can be had at 24", but with adjustable feet to aim the tweets down.
I really love those glass stands... pretty...

What you want is out there... Hope you find what your looking for... :)

Glass isn't a good idea for sound damping IMO. The 18" medium mass stands are on sale this month for $48/pr.
