I finally borrowed my girls crappy digital camera and got some pictures. The room isn't close to what I would want my A/V system in but its the best I have until I am done with undergrad at least.

My next step is to make some acoustical treatments so if you have any suggestions on locations please do inform :).

Here is the fancy stuff:

The Gear minus the Wii:

Sub:

Left Surrounds (and my "dining room"):

Right surrounds (I know kind of cramped but the rears were a present and I couldn't say no):

Rear surrounds:

Cool. It's always nice to see what other people on here have. Can't wait until I finally cough up the cash and get a new TV. Then maybe I'll post a picture or two.

Nice wire management on the surround speakers. :D

Well, I live in an apartment and figured I don't really care if they are visible for the last while I live here (one more year) and I wasn't about to run them in the walls of this place besides its got GAF (girlfriend acceptance factor) at least with mine, but she has been very supportive of this extremely expensive hobby :-D.

Ohh yeah, I am still looking for suggestions for placement of acoustic panels ;). Ill probably make a post in the proper area soon enough just figured I would get it started here since I want to build them myself I don't want to make too many mistakes, hah.

I was just giving you a hard time, but you know that. I'm an engineer, though, so straight lines are important to me. :D

3M makes some pretty handy "cord organizers" that are little clips that attach to the wall with a removable adhesive strip. At least on my paint, those strips come off easy with no mess or damage. They're cheap, too.

Oh, and your girlfriend sounds like a keeper!

I used zip ties that I umm...drilled into the wall ;). My landlord doesn't seem to care since I have painted every room and installed new kitchen counters and a sink along with some minor stuff, so the wires wouldn't fry with my HT system (I asked him and he was okay with all of it even gave me some paint and such).

Figured I should delve into DYI home theater stuff now since there isn't much else for me to fix in my apartment.

I love spicy food and since I love to cook but most people don't like food as spicy as I do I keep a bottle of the hot sauce next to my spot at the table :).

hey, does the belkin PF thingy have some sort of limitation at the back that says 110/120v only? I emailed belkin asking if I could use the belkin unit here in 220v world, and I got no reply (except one that says they were "unusually swamped with emails")

dining tables and movies ... good combo!

I just looked at the back and it didn't say. So I went to the owners manual. Nothing. After a google search I found someone who said they were in the same situation as you and they said it wouldn't work.

Belkins phone is 310-898-110 if its too long of distance then I can call for you on monday ;).

was the google link this one? http://www.dtvforum.info/lofiversion/index.php/t31322.html

I was able to download a manual meant for the 220v world, only the picture of the unit itself gave a clue, it said 220v on the front panel, but I'm thinking, that's the actual voltage input. does the PF31 also have a 12v trigger? if it's gonna cost you a single cent, it's really not that important. thanks!

I have the PF31D, which is the same as the PF31 except that it has the digital front panel like the PF60. It has a DC input that will take 3~30V, so if that's what you're talking about, then yes.

I also looked over the original box and the user manual, and I couldn't find any mention at all about allowable input voltage.

How's the sub sound in the corner?

Is the port in the rear or front?

edit: Nevermind. I checked out their site and it's sealed.

Congrats on the setup!

I would suggest wire sleeves for the surrounds it'll give the wire a "thought out" look.

While those covers do look good as I already said I got my version of WAF (GAF) and am not going to be living in this apartment long enough to care. Maybe in the next one since it will be a while until I have a house  damn med school going to take forever.

Wow, your still in med school and you have better stuff than I do. I can only imagine the audio nirvana that you're going to be in once you start making the big bucks! You might even be able to afford a...dare to dream...Bose system. :D:D

Hah, actually I am an undergrad right now. Med school will be soon enough though. The only reason I have the system I do is one I got everything at wholesale and two I worked 40-70 hour weeks last two summers to pay for it along with a bet with my parents. I bet them I could take 22 credits and get above a 3.5 if they helped me get a display. In the end they said yes if I included Christmas and birthday presents. I ended up with a 3.71 :-D.

I was going to get a bose system it was awesome. The cubes were so small they actually fit in your ear and used the ridges to bounce sound waves to make the feel of full surround but I couldn't afford to get the matching display that fits like contacts so I just said screw it and got actual speakers ;).
