Lol :) It's not too often where you come to the board and see your OWN name in the Thread Title.. I had to read it twice to make sure it was really for me :)

Yes.. I finally took the plunge :).. My local dealer called me and told me that he had a sweet deal for me. He had some speakers that were in one of his stores that he had to move for lack of space. He gave me a really sweet deal on it and it came with a full warranty :)

With the money that I saved, I re-spent (lol) it on an Anthem A5 amp :) Below in my signature, is my current setup that I now have. :) I just need the receiver.. Pictures will be coming shortly as soon as I have a place to setup all the equipment and stuff.. Thanks to everyone for all of their help!!!

I can't believe that I have been saving for this for 4+ years!! wow... and too think that the $$$ went almost all away with the swipe of one wrist and a credit card wow...

Now I need the receiver, projector, sub, screen, etc.. uhg.. it never ends.. oh and the universal remote, the sub thing-a-ma-jig that warp got that really increased his sub output... and... ummm..

[Modified] One more modification... Setup is now 7.1.. I know... I know... there is not alot of point in going 7.1 but if the ship is already going down.. why not make the hole a little bigger :) lol.. and the bill doesn't come for two months... :) and the purchase (for the rear speakers) is not official until I actually make it down there to pick them up so you still have time to convince me to get the 20s instead.. :) Not too sure if you can convince me to go 6.1 instead... I know several that are trying but I just can't seem to do it.. I have always wanted the 7.1. dont know why.. but I just have.. [/modified]

Congrats man I know the feeling as I did something similar when I pulled the trigger on my purchases.

On the 7.1 while it isn't necessary I actually like it more. Now I don't know if thats just because I know the speakers are behind me or what, but when I bought my system I bought a 5.1 and had it for a while before my girlfriend bought me an extra set of surrounds because she actually listened to me babbling about my sound system (scary I know). The sound stage seems more engulfing during movies and if you are a gamer well then you will take full advantage of that.

Ohh and for your future set up I would look into the TX-SR905. I think it will be cheaper or atleast the same price as the denon and will have features to match. Just another option.

Yeah, that lucky bastar* I would love to have that A5 amp....

He was thinking of holding out for a Rotel 1095 like I got, but for the price he got that A5... Definately a Great Amp
No reason why a 20 amp difference between the Rotel 200x5 and that Anthem 180x5 will sound any better or worse... In fact I have read (can't find that article) that on certain Rotel Amps, the 1095 being one of them, that Rotel trimmed the High end out, making it less bright... it was a statement straight from Rotel.

Im looking forward to seeing pics, and hearing how it sounds buddy...
Now go to best buy and buy a Temp. receiver and hook that stuff up, and see how it sounds...

Nice setup. But now that you've gone 7.1, which 2ch amp is going to drive the mains while the Anthem drives the center and surrounds? Decisions, decisions.

I think I am going to let the receiver handle the final two speakers.. being that it will be the only two speakers that it has to handle, I think it should be okay.. (at least for now :) )

At least forever.... you just took all the burden off your receiver with that Anthem, IMO there should be no reason that you need another amp for the rears...
Unless you just have the $$ burning a hole in your pocket... :)

lol.. it really does feel like that big of an upgrade.. I have had my old setup since Jr High. I got it after the Northridge Earthquake. I have never upgraded since. Its exciting but scary at the same time. Its a huge "investment" ( it really doesn't go up in value so its not really an investment :) )....

i think you are thinking of the MCA50 ... the A5 can really do 200w x 5 (so they say)
:)

are you sure?? according to this site its states the A5 at 180x5 unless they were being really conservative.

the A2 is stated at being 200x2 though..

oops ... I was looking at the A2 (or something else)

even the A series has a 20-20khz rating of <1% THD ... hmmm, looks like the power difference between this and the 1095 is more than 20w. how much did you get it for?

and where are the pictures?

umm $1800 (retails for 2499-2799. and it came with a full warranty).. are you thinking it wasn't a good deal? you think it is actually less then 180wx5???

well, the rotel is 2k USD at least ...

if you check the rotel specs, you will see a spec of 20hz-20khz 0.0something THD for 200wpc ALL CHANNELS DRIVEN

I think BEF1 believes that for a 1% THD (or .99% if you like) is converted to the same 0.0something standard, you lose about 30% power.
note the following though:
1) THD ratings like that are inaudible - whether it be 1% or less
2) I don't think you'll use anywhere near 180wpc

I just like comparing apples to apples ... and I consider a <1% THD the same fudging tactic as a 1khz rating :)
