Hey,

I've been downloading a lot of sound tracks from movies, preferably the OST versions (with original music).

Does anyone have any recommendations as to which you liked?

So far I have a couple Spider man soundtracks, Batman Begins, 300, and Tokyo drift.

I would absolutely have to recommend any and every soundtrack by Thomas Newman. His work includes the wonderful soundtracks to Road To Perdition, Meet Joe Black, Cinderella Man, American Beauty and The Green Mile. Along with Danny Elfman, he's among my all-time favorite film music composers (although Williams didn't do too bad with his Star Wars soundtracks!:D).

Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon

The James Bond Collection. If you like that style of music (the Sean Connery years) also,Live and Let Die was a great song. Some of the newer Bond stuff was hit or miss.

Blade Runner soundtrack is an excellent choice.

I like John Williams first Jurasic Park soundtrack.

Pirates of the Caribbean is another good one.

Conan The Barbarian, Bram Stoker's Dracula, Jin-Roh: Legacy of the Wold Brigade, Akira, and The Hours all get spun fairly regularly on my stereo (I admit, I use The Hours to fall asleep).

Erich Kunzel & The Cincinatti Pops (on the Telarc label) have made quite the career from audiophile recordings of movie music.

Very good call on that one....

I never really listened to soundtrack albums much, but I have to say, that every one of those movies has a Killer soundtrack... with most of them seriously running shivers up my spine... or producing emotions I usually dare not discuss with men...

Thanks for the idea, I think I will be in search of checking some of those out..

Wow, just did some research, found this site... http://www.soundtrack.net/composers/database/?id=149
and low and behold just about every movie that he was composing for brought tears to my eyes... imagine that...

Like Shawshank Redemption when Andy is escaping, and they play that run on the bass until it hits the bottom.... makes the hair stand up on my arms...

I really like the Batman Begins soundtrack. Great use of percussion. Danny Elfman did the Spiderman intro song. I have a couple from him, which I both like.

I like what Danny Elfman did for Men In Black.

The soundtrack to The Village is phenomenal too (IMO), but that was James Newton Howard.

I find it extremely rare for a soundtrack to be enjoyable on its own, without the video. The only ones I can think of offhand that I really enjoy are Blade Runner and Koyannisquatsi.

Believe it or not, this is pretty damn good, also one of my favorite movies:

25th Hour.

Yeah I’m an added listener of movie soundtracks or “scores” I haven’t brought any new scores since last year I believe, but I have a fair few less than I would like but sooner or later with the laserdiscs DVD CD and the odd few LP and VHS tapes I won’t have room to swing a cat!:D

At the moment I’ve set the repeat mode on the DVD player while listening to the end credits playing on DIE HARD I like Beethoven, thou the music when it cuts from “Let it Snow” then goes to left and right front mix just it would have with the “Road Show” 70mm Dolby stereo print.

I often like to play John Williams or some James Horner or Jerry Goldsmith via CD, or the odd isolated score on DVD that maybe in Dolby 5.1 or other?:)

Hans Zimmer did the Batman Begins soundtrack. I'll check out his gladiator work.

That’s got some nice low end that goes down to 25Hz really shaking the floors foundations!

The Da Vinci Code track 13 CheValirers De Sangreal was a favourite on classic FM radio last year and I often play the same track that builds up in layers and the choirs is very realistically loud!

Man, I don't know if I can go back to normal music after hearing how perfectly mastered movie soundtracks are.. I can't stop listening to the Batman Begins soundtrack... its flawless. Vibrant orchestra, deep percussion, and some modern electronic effects thrown in as well.
