The amp of your dreams...what would it be?

This is an easy one for me. Without blinking an eye it would be a McIntosh. The MC402 in particular. Oodles of pure American muscle, 400w per channel (min) to be exact. I just love the history of the company, the technology, and lets not forget those gorgeous blue meters. To my ears the sound is just so sweet & involving that I get goose bumps. Well, like the title says - the amp of your dreams. I've been saving loose change for some time now & maybe in a few more years. Till then I'll just "Dream On"

I would love to have 7 McIntosh 1,000 mono amps(the new big ones/forget the model) and the tol pre/pro. I would mate those w/ a few sets of RBH t2's

They would be either the Mc1201 monoblocks which are 1,200 watts each or the Mc2KW monoblocks (3 chasis per monoblock) which are 2,000 watts each, the Mc1000's were discontinued several years ago.

My Dream Amp is also not all that outlandish- a Moscode 401HR would do me. Some Edge monoblocks would also be in the running. Lastly, if I had a Butler TDB-2250 I'd probably never feel much need to upgrade (I have a TDB-3150 now and love it dearly:D).

I also would love to have a pair of ASL Hurricanes.

How about 7 each 300 Watt MarkLevinson No. 33s. They check in at 433 lbs each. :D

Yes, a very nice amp but:D
60Watts into 8 ohms. and, just sitting there it wastes 300 watts doing nothing. :D Great for the power company, now they have to build another dam for you. :D
As long as it sounds good, I don't care.:D

This is a fun thread pearsall. Most of us here have probably thought about this ourselves, I know I have.

If we're talking in terms of DREAMING here... then I'd have to go exotic and go with a few of these: Halcro dm88, McIntosh MC2KW, or the Chord SPM 14000 ("Ultimate Monoblock")...

I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I spent that much on an amplifier even if I could afford it. The most expensive amps I would realistically consider would be along the lines of the McIntosh MC501 monoblocks or if I found a couple mint preowned MC1200s like highfihoney has. I've listened to the MC402 enough to think I could really use one or two... (it's amazing what your mind can justify if you want it to...). I have intentionally not auditioned anything above the MC402 because I don't need to be thinking about shiny blue meter amplifiers right now, I'm going to be moving again next spring, so house hunting time is here again, and I must stay focused... Of course, I love the blue meters... I've been in love with blue meters & dials in general since the 1970s Marantz & Altec equipment for which I can thank (blame) my father & godfather. :D We didn't have any McIntosh equipment back then, it was high dollar equipment then too compared to most other amps.

Needs a bigger bank account. But, what will it do when the peaks are 200 watts into 8 ohms?
Burn my face if it is two feet away from the amp.:D

Halcro was one of the brands I was trying to remember, HUGE AMPS.:D
