Help - Annoying hum coming from Onkyo 804

I just connected up my Oppo DVD player via HDMI to the Onkyo and there's an annoying hum that's present only when the DVD player's connected (coming from speakers). I removed the HDMI chord and the hum would disappear, can anyone help with this problem? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a ground loop. There should be a ground connection on the back of your 804. Attach a wire from a metal point on the back of you DVD player to this ground point on your receiver.

I had this same issue with a sub. I attached all my components to the same ground point on my receiver and it went away.
