I recently bought this preamp at the local goodwill store for 5.99.
They wanted 10.00 but I told them I would have to purchase a power cord for it. I don't know much about Nakamichi but this preamp is in great shape...looks very classy and sounds very nice to me. The controls are exceptionally smooth. I would like to think I got a good deal on this, however Iv'e never purchased any Nakamichi equipment so I don't know much about them or this preamp. Anybody familiar with this preamp? Thanks!

Nakamichi preamp

Thanks for the info. I used to have a "classe" preamp, but sold it during a period of unemployment. But even though I can afford to buy a new preamp...
I'm very happy with my six dollar "special". Thats the great thing about vintage gear. It does'nt matter how much money you have. You just have to be devoted enough to go to garage sales , goodwill etc.
In case you are interested, I am using the preamp with two Onkyo M504's
that are biamped to a pair of Paradigm studio 100's. I use a 1985 belgian built
"magnavox" player..(Philips). it weighs aprox 15 pounds and has huge heat sinks and a 50 watt power supply. Even the feed tray is cast metal.
Thanks again for your help!!

Ha, ha, I have seen that player. Very solid machine. I think it weighs more than 15 pounds though. I wanted to get the one, but the guy selling it wants like $300. "sorry dude, $300 is way too much."

Sounds like a great combonation, for an older system with new speakers (which works just as nice as a new system with new speakers).

Sure the Classe was nice, but the Nakamichi was insanely inexpensive and a great value.:D

Nakamichi??

Wow, that's a blast from the past. Is that company still in business? I remember in the 80's, one of my friends had a brother that was hit by a car on his scooter and got a lot of money from it. He bought a bunch of Nakamichi components and some Magneplanar speakers. The system sounded AWESOME!!!

Sounds like you got a hell of a deal.
