Hello
Thank you for this site--I am happy to be a new member. I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I just hooked up my new Denon AVR-4306 and a Panasonic plasma display, along with my Denon DVD player (an old
one--my DVD-5900 is going back to the shop for third time!). My problem is that I can't figure out how to get an OSD for the receiver setup. I have the receiver S-video out 1 going to the display's input. I have the DVD player hooked up to the display directly via component output. The cable box connects to the display via a dvi to HDMI cable. I tried routing this through the receiver but that didn't work either for getting the OSD. Denon told me that the S-video should work (as it does for my old receiver). What am I doing wrong? I have been hooking up stereo and home theater equipment for many years and have never had problems before now. The AVR-4306 is very hard to figure out and the manual is almost useless. Help please!
Jim
Welcome to the Forum

1) AVR 4306 is NOT that hard to figure out, esp. with the very basic setup you're trying to do.
2) Manual is "Denon-usual-awfull", but not really useless, after you read through it several times, and start practising with several options - it'll start making sense.
3) You can and should run all your video sources through the receiver and run just one cable out (HDMI, component) to your monitor: it SHOULD work (it works for me and thousands other users) incl. OSD. If it doesn't, something is wrong here.
4) What's the sense of running the S-Video cable to your PLASMA monitor, instead of HDMI/DVI or component - C'mon !!!

5) What's the sense of having AVR receiever and running all your Video sources directly to monitor, bypassing your receiver ???
Please rethink what you're trying to accomplish here, retry it again, I Hope it will work for you
