What do you get when you cut the price of the DMC-1 by almost 67% off its original retail price, upgrade the cosmetics and add HDMI functionality? The Reference Theater Series MMC-1. For those seeking solid performance, with a high WAF, the Emotiva MMC-1 A/V processor paired with the matching IPS-1 7CH power amp is a killer combo. Combine this with Emotiva’s excellent customer support and aggressive tradeup deal on their processors, and you’ve choice for your next separates solution just got that much easier.

HDMI 1.3? True HD and DTS MA decoding?
No as clearly stated in the review - its HDMI switching only with no audio support.

i believe those are the things that they are planning on incorporating into the next generation ones coming out at the end of this year, early next year.

Sure hope they do include them.

Maybe Gene could find out whether they plan to include them in the new pre-pro coming in Jan. 2008 and tell us what he learns here.
I just sent a mail to Emotiva telling them that the new Onkyo TxNr905 receiver coming in August 2007 will have what the forums call the best video scaler on earth, and suggesting that they might want to put it in the new pre-pro too. That would make it even more of a killer product.
I also mentioned the LFE bug and told them to be utterly certain it is handled right in the new model. For all I know, it is handled right in the current products from Emotiva. But it is such an important issue, that they just HAVE to get it right. See the thread in www.avsforum.com. Go to Audio Area, then Audio Theory, Setup and Chat, then "LFE, subwoofers and interconnects explained". This thread is still growing, and it would take 500 pages to print it out! The LFE bug is one of the biggest screwups in consumer electronics and don't but a receiver or pre-pro unless you are sure it handles this correctly. Its not an issue apparently if the unit is receiving bitstream, but can be when receiving PCM or analog information.
I'm hot to buy the successor to the MMC-1 pre-pro and the IPS-1 amp in Jan. 2008. They seem to be fantastic products. :)

Over on the AV123 forum, Dan L who is the president of Emotiva has already posted there saying that the new MMC and DMC will blow your socks off or something like that:D . Apparently they will have all the latest technology including video scaling, he stated he could not be more specific due to competion etc.

I will be waiting for my DMC2 cash in hand with my 40% discount...anyone want a mint DMC1 come 08?

Now this sounds like a winner, If they do get all the issues you stated right from the get go... You can count on me to be watching this extremely closely...

Thanks Gene for the Excellent review.... I also will be very interested in a DMC2
