I don't need a lot of AV receiver

I currently use my computer to act as my preamp. It also has all my music. I would like to get a AV receiver to replace the computer as my "pre amp" I guess you might call it. Part of the reason is the lack of 2.1 output. It has 2.1 as long as you go to the sub and then split your mains off from the sub. It has 4.1, 5.1 and 7.1. Lack of input selections are also a bit of an issue. I think my best option is a AV receiver even though a sound processor would be ideal, they just cost a lot. Whats a decent non HDMI switching AV receiver. I have all the amplifier(s) I need so the power is not an issue either. I only have 2.1 but will eventually go to 5.1 with no interest in 6.1 or 7.1. If there is a computer sound card that would fulfill these needs, I would like to know. Thanks, Mark

I will use my normal answer here....

It is hard to beat the Yammy RX-659 for price vs. performance.

The Yamaha has an advantage in that it has an amp just in case you ever wanted to use it. The Emotiva is smaller and lighter and probably has more connections. It also comes with a free HDMI switcher (seperate unit, you could sell it if you didn't want it).
