Overhyped doesn't mean it's not happening.
But the overplaying WAS the point.

Further, to use your argument, overhyped doesn't mean it is happening, either. Because half the climatologists say something's happening, doesn't represent a truth.

Perhaps you could go back to Wikipedia and find us some of scientific proof. ;)

I absolute agree.

My issue was with another poster claiming "they got it all wrong in the 70s" as an argument to dismiss what climatologists are saying now. That's a bad idea in my opinion.

I'm not sure what there really is to argue with regarding global warming. The global temperature has been increasing for some time
Very true....

The earth has been warming and CO2 levels have increased for more than 10,000 years. The earth has warmed since the retreat of the most recent ice age. (a mere 10,000 year blink of the eye in geologic terms)

On the other hand, the topic of an environmentalist concocted man made global warming is an entirely different topic in itself. The reality is that many major ice ages have come and gone in the past, and they will continue to do so in the future...... whether we like it or not. Kick back, relax, and enjoy........ because we live during a most fortunate time period within that cycle.

Have you seen the atmospheric CO2 graphs for the last several hundred thousand years?

Apparently the present levels have already skyrocketed past anything the planet has seen for millions of years - all since the 1850s.

I'm not making an argument or anything, but to me the CO2 data is among the most convincing evidence.

I don't understand why people totally dismiss the possibility of a human connection.

Because its portrayed as actual fact when there's no concrete evidence to support it as being that cut and dry. Charts and posters are great illustration devices, but they don't tell the whole story. I went through this before, the figures, the data, the outcome, back three decades ago. Who are the persons releasing this information, what agenda do they have, what's their background? In today's political reality these are legitimate questions. Who's funding this research? Does the funder have an agenda, sounds cynical but even the climate has been politicized.

Hey guys... move to Canada. There aren't many tornadoes up here ;)
Thats not entirely true, the praries and south western ontario can get tornados. it is rare though, I know this because my parents grew up in south western ontario and have been through their fair share of tornados, also i was in edmonton when they had a tornado back in 89.

It is, but J, all the theories I've read over the years concerning global temperature change and it's causes have never been conclusive and from the horses own mouths (scientists) this has been stated, now that the scenario has been politicized, "concensus" has become the cry from the media. "Neutral" (as not being subsidized by interested party(s)) scientists are at least honest enough to say "we don't know."

We're Still Gonna Die

June 1st the first "official" day of the hurricane season and we're already to storm "B".

I'm making my preparations like the weatherman says. If you need me I'll be under the mattress "hunkering down" for the next few months.

P.S.- Could somebody send me a case of tequila?
