Denon AVR-3805 - No Sound with Optical Cable Connection

Hi guys,

I have a problem with my Denon receiver that I could not find out what's wrong with it. I've had it almost six months without any problem. Last week, my little son came into my room and played with remote and probably with my receiver also. Now I can't hear any sound (I used fiber optic cable to connect my DVD and Receiver). I tried to connect to other digital inputs of receiver and re-set my receiver, but the result is the same. Finally, when I used interconnect RCA cable to connect them, it's working and I heard the music. I borrowed Denon AVR-3802 from my friend and connected it to my DVD player with the same fiber optic cable, it's working too. Is there anything wrong with my receiver especially with digital inputs? Please advise what I should do now. I'm really appreciated your inputs and have a great day guys.

Sounds like your son might have inadvertently changed the assignment of the optical input your player was set to. Did you check the assignments?

Make sure on your Denon remote you aren't looking into Analog input mode. It needs to be on auto otherwise you'll get no digital audio.

Oh yeah, that one single button is certainly a pain.

Jon and Dave - you're right that button makes my system did not work. Since I purchased it second hand, I worried there was something wrong with it after I used for while.

I'm feeling good now!!!

Thanks and have a nice day guys.:)
