Suggestions on a sub for a small room

I was looking at buying a Onix Rocket UFW-10 from a co-worker for about $325. My room size is 1000 cft, I was looking at buying a ULW-10 before I found this deal. However, if I push the edge of my budget I could get a VTF-3 MK3. I know that all of these would fill my room, so Im just looking for the most bang for the buck.

With that small of a room I'd go for the UFW-10. The VTF 3.3 is a very big sub (definately a better sub, but overkill for that size room imho).

SPL aside............. how capable of a sub do you want, and how low do you want it to go?

What type of performance criteria do you desire?

"filling the room" is something that can be accomplished by any cheap $100 hunk of sub.

Performance and capability is everything:cool:

Are you suggesting that because he has a small room.......... he should settle for a small sub with lesser performance capabilities?

For example, what if someone with a "small room" wants a sub capable of reaching down to the 10-15hz range? Conversely, should better performance be limited to those with bigger rooms?

I'm not sure that I understand the point you are trying to make. Why would a "Better" sub ever be considered overkill? The most important subwoofer criteria are build quality and performance, not bigness or loudness.

The Onix is the best value here though, it is more than double for the HSU in question.

Good point. That is a pretty good size piece of real estate required with the 3.3 for a room of that size.

The axiom EP400 might be something to think about for a high quality sub that is small, but its pricey.
