Yamaha 1700 Zone 2 Speaker Question

Just set up my Yamaha 1700 in my newly built home theater and have added two speakers by my bar. I connected them as zone 2 speakers and have since found I can only play the Yammy tuner through them. The book says that only accessories connected through the analog left and right audio connectors are able to be put through to my speakers. Can this be true? Are you telling me if I use my DVD player connected via HDMI and my cable t.v. connected the same way I cannot play them through the zone 2 area? What can I connect and play? Sort of a waste if I am limited to something connected via analog signal to the two left and right audio connections.

Yes, analog inputs only. That is the norm even for the most expensive processors. At least the cables are pretty inexpensive.

Yeah, that's true for most of the receivers. But, what's your problem ??? In ADDITION to your digital connections, connect all the sources with your receiver through analog cables, and you can play them in ZONE2. That's what I did with my Denon 4306 and it works beautifully.

Thanks for the replies, I'll give dual connecting my inputs through the analog connections a try and see what I can do. Cheers.
