Analogue output cable issue.

I just hooked up the analogue outputs on my Cambridge Audio DVD89 and I get a volume sensitive buzz through the speakers when using the analogue connections, both stereo and 6-channel ext. in.

Everything else is connected digitally and there is no buzz from any other source. I've tried three different types of cables and the buzz is still there. I currently have 2/3 connections on a monoprice component video cable from the stereo analogue output to VCR2 input and it buzzes.

Am I at the point where I need to spend $$$ on Bluejeans double braided shielded cables or is there something else I should look for before diving in wallet in hand. I do like my music loud, but I hate that little buzz in the background.

Try one connection, channel at a time and see if only one ch is like that or all. perhaps there is an issue in the analog connector/s? I doubt it is a cable issue.

I'm confused now. I tried two shielded subwoofer cables and the buzz remained. So it's not a cable issue.

I pulled the player and hooked it to my Denon AVR-686 in the bedroom system and there was no buzz on that system, even using a cheap, thin RCA cable. So it's not the player's outputs.

I installed a cheap LG player in the main system using the same cables and input selection that buzzed with the CA, but there was no buzz. So it's not the receiver's inputs.

It seems that the only time I get the buzz is with the CA player using either 2ch or 5.1ch analog output in my main system regardless of cables.

Next up, I will swap out the power bar and see if a different electrical source helps. I have a Belden surge protector that I can put in place to try.

Yes, it is strange indeed but it happens from time to time.
Also try it without any surge suppressor and using the same wall outlet for both components.
Also, try those bars on the other system with either player and see if you can duplicate it knowing full well that neither caused a problem before.

Dave when you tried the player in your bedroom was the hdmi connected? If no buzz occurred with the analog cable, it may be because on your main system your using both HDMI and analog? The Lg player showed on signs as well.

Actually, I'm using DVI and coax because the HDMI output on the player is screwy and won't play surround channels. I have tried the player in the main system with just the 2ch connection with no success. I haven't been able to install the surge protector yet. I hope that will work.

Yup, got the old ground loop problem with my cable STB. As soon as I unscrew the cable coax, the buzz disappears. I guess it's time to get a cable ground isolator. Like I said, it's only over analog connection, so I hope the SACD format is worth the trouble and will be supported for a good long time.

Alternatively, does the APC power conditioner with a cable loop provide a common ground between components and cable?

It might if you pass the cable through the box, don't know for sure. But, that isolator is inexpensive to get.

Here's the conclusion. I got a Dayton VIT-1 for $9.85 and the problem is solved. Thank you all for your comments.

Hey, that is good to know and to have feedback. As you probably may have seen, there are lots of others with similar issues. At least, most are solved.
