That review is almost before my time... I tried to point this out to Gene a few weeks ago, but it got lost in the translation...

It's kind of like being mad at a guy who wronged you 6 years ago, though... I have no idea how they managed to do that, and I don't really care at this point. Life is too short...

I know its old.. it would just be nice to know what happened.. it seems odd.. I still like their products and I think I might still get their speakers but it doesn't make me feel all that secure in my decision.

its kind of funny.. the original review speaks of the 40s and the 60s..
The Studio 40v2 is their middle of the line product in this series and is basically a smaller version of the Studio 60v2 with respect to driver topology, utilizing a smaller cabinet in which produces less bass output.
It looks like they just up'd the numbers by 20 because in their review it states
The Studio 60v2 is their middle of the line product in this series and is basically a smaller version of the Studio 80v2 with respect to driver topology, utilizing a smaller cabinet in which produces less bass output.
... umm.. was there ever a Studio 80v2????

I was dead set against Paradigm even though I have always loved the way they sound.

I didnt want Paradigms- 1- because I think there are speakers out there that are just as good and less expensive. 2- Because of sneaky reviews and rumors of poor customer service.

In the end; I recieved a very fair price and was able to deal with the store that I prefer to purchase all my stuff from(buying from local stores is a "must" for me) so I ended up with them and couldnt be happier.

It's interesting, I went to the paradigm site and it appears to be down right now.... hmmm

All it says is "I am in Consumer Website - Paradigm_webs Folder"

CORRECTED:.. Wow.. they have a new site now....

The place that I am getting my speakers from said that they would give me a 10-15% discount if I buy everything from them (package discount)... That was enough for us to think that we still like Paradigm the best based from all the speakers that we have auditioned so far..

The more time you spend at a high end AV store the better deal you will end up getting. I made several trips to mine with a goal at befriending the owner, after 3 weeks I had his personal cell phone number and email. We called or emailed each other numerous times and most of the time we never even talked about stereos. I learned his interests and would base all calls around them. I made sure I never brought up prices when the conversation would turn to HT topics. Around the 4th week he called me and said “I need you to come in, I have some deals for you”. I walked out of there 1500 bucks cheaper than what was originally quoted to me.

Well, Paradigm's marketing agent needs to work on the brand.

I already pointed that out to Gene ages ago.

if this was an honest mistake ... then it SHOULD be forgotten.

but I'm leaning towards this being done on purpose, and the fact the review remains up in the website means they are neither sorry NOR aware of that "mistake" - in short - they are either snakes or just plain incompetent.

and yeah, I rarely forgive and forget "wrongs" where people never asked for forgiveness ... they stay as my subconscious tutors the rest of my life, so they never happen again.

edit: it kinda sucks for me though ... I KNOW that the studios sound better than the B&W 600 series ... the local importer of paradigm also seems like a nice guy. on the other hand, the B&W local importer is a dik (yes, he's the same Onkyo importer that I said was a dik).

I think I will email them today just so we (I) can get some closure on the topic. (If they ever respond) I understand that it happened a long time ago but it seems that the issue was never resolved (or clarified).

That would be a waste of time right there....

I think that Paradigm has some amazing products, and at the same time are somewhat over priced, and also with their alleged shady practices had me concerned about buying their product as well.. but in the end, I have a dealer that is a customer of mine, and I enjoy going to his store to check out his products. Now when I said alleged, I wasn't talking about this 40 & 60 changing numbers review scenario... that Is horrible, but they will never admit it unless the original writers that call them out on it.. and I doubt that will happen either.

Now he is the one I have to deal with for problems, and with my relationship with him, I am very happy... I love the sound of my system.
