"A new woofer technology unlike any other...."

Well, except for the Phoenix Gold Cyclone car subwoofer driver that was on the market in the early-mid 90's. It was a fan blade with a DC servo motor attached, just like this thing appears to be. The only difference was that the Cyclone was small enough to fit inside of a car and it had a mounting flange attached in order to install it in a box. Also, the fan blade on the Cyclone was of a different type.

Imagine the type of budget required to be able to spend 20k on a sub... *drools*

Man I wonder how hard it would be to make that bad boy! It looks like some kind of 1950's fan.

Impressive stuff....

The fan should be easy, it is the driver piston that might be a little difficult.;)

I don't think that anyone can "hear" 5 Hz but you will be able to feel it. Here is my question, how many sountracks have LFE material that goes down to the 5 Hz range?

Not sure exact numbers, but I would say it’s a VERY small percentage of total movies available. Probably not enough to necessitate dropping $20,000.… unless you just had the money lying about with nothing else to spend it on. :p

Must subs, even the ones that have useful sub 20hz output start rolling of before they hit the lowest of lows. The fan woofer thing is authoritive at any frequency you would ever need, and it is super loud! There a few movies that I could think of that would be fun to watch with that sub, good Lord.

That's why I find it funny that they would start off the explanation of their design with that sentence.

This was talked about nearly 2years ago here.

There is a guy that has two of these set up in his HT room, I'll see if I can find the link.

+1 jcPanny... No-one can hear 5 Hz, you could only feel it, and exactly whats the point when there is nothing recorded that low...
Now I can see the new SVS Ultra starting to hit numbers in the low teens with 10Hz tuning... cool, I would love to feel that...

I love the thought of having a sub that will disturb my innards... :)

But 20K... busy..
