best a/v for upscaling???

Hi all
What is the best a/v receiver for upscaling SD channels on HDTVs,I know SD pic can't be exactly like HD,but i've heared some receivers (i.e Yamaha 1700,2600,2700, Sony DA5200) have the ability to increase the resolutions of 480i sources.

It certainly could.

The SD channels you are having trouble with, are they from cable (if so, with or without box?), satellite, or off air?

from satellite, i played with diff tv settings and could minimize the hard edges by softening the picture little bit but i was wondering if some amps/rec can make the picture more sharp with no hard edges.
anyway thanx for your help.i think there is no way to do that.SD will remain SD.

I would suggest looking into an actual calibration disc such as the Avia Guide to Home Theater or Digital Video Essentials. Using a proper calibration disc rather than just randomly playing with settings will further increase picture quality.

Several receivers now advertise upscaling features, but none of them in that price range do a very good job at it. It's definitely not feature I would upgrade receivers over............ especially if that is the primary reason you're considering an upgrade.
