I was in Costco last night and saw a cable kit by a "company" called Wirelogic. The kit included an HDMI cable with DVI adapter, 2 component cables, one digital coax, some interconnects. The price was, of course, much lower than expected. No big deal, I thought. Just some cheapo cables. Then, when I started reading about them on the box, I was surprised to find that they were long grain copper, silver plated, braided covers, and gold-plated terminations. If these are the real thing, they would be an amazing deal. So . . .
Does anyone know anything about this company, these cables, etc. The box says "made in China". Are they made by a plant that produces for other brands? I'm throwing this out here, hoping that someone who is much more knowledgeable about cables will be able to provide some insight.
I look forward to reading your thoughts and findings.

Well, everything in Costco (just about) is made in China, so my guess is somebody wised up and grabbed soem of the OEM products that are there... the key will be seeing if it works well as a product.

If there are markings on the cable, you can usually track down who they were manufactured by.

...which one it was, but not so long ago one of the pricier purveyors of boutique cables was cited for removing the "Made In China" labels from "their" products...

...just think of the mansion in which most of "Gone With the Wind" took place.

Or, follow the name with a musical "de boom dee ay"

I saw these at costco when i was picking up a wall mount for my plasma, And because of their visual similarities and things like "long grain copper" I figured that they could be made by Audioquest. Compare them yourself. So i bought them seeing as how i needed some IC's and componet anyway but for 92 bucks i figured if they really are what they say then its not a bad deal.

Well fast forward, i get em home and decide to slice open the rubber coating to see whats inside, on the audio cables there is a small wire about equivalent to the size of Monster interlink 400 IC's with a foil shield ( i didnt cut any further than that to see the wire itself )

On the video cables theres a braid sheild on the outside. Anyhow for the money they probbly arent the best deal but if you need some of the cables its probbly not a bad deal. I am pretty sure i noticed a good difference on the componet video cables vs the cheap ones i was using before, And they look somewhat attractive. I was hoping to find more information on them when i searched google but this thread was about it. :(

I bought the kit for $100 which came with 2 HDMI 500 cables and I can honestly tell you that they are just as good as my buddys Monster 650 Cable, which he spent $90 on. It is def worth it.

Wirelogic HDMI Kit

drnomad:

I also saw the Wirelogic kit at Costco and went to do some research on it. I talked to a guy at Circuit City (first mistake) and he told me he'd heard some bad feedback about their cables, (Costco's), i.e. poor quality, etc.. CC wanted $60 for a 4' "really good quality" cable(1), and I said thanks, I'll think about it. I did some more online research and the consensus is that if your doing a short run, more $$ does not necessarily = better a/v quality. In-wall is a different story. So back to Costco I went and re-read the package on the Wirelogic cables and read the same thing you did - they seemed to be well made. I bought the kit and ran an HDMI cable from my laptop (sweet) to the plasma and guess what. Perfect picture quality. I mean really good. I haven't tried Blu-Ray yet because I don't own any, but the others play well. The HD audio also sounds good (thru the HDMI). All I can tell you is it's working well for me. Hope this helps.
