Ok so I used to live on the top floor of a triplex. My sub is a HSU VTF-3 MK3and the room was about 13ft X 13ft with standard 8 ft ceilings (1352 cubic ft)and it pounded the crap out of my place now i just bought a condo and I live on the ground floor which is hardwood over cement. The new room is 9ft x 17ft with 9 ft ceilings (1377cubic ft), however I can barely hear the sub now. I've tried tuning it again but it's still nothing compared to what it was before... is this because of the cement flooring?

Yes it is very much related to it. Unfortunately, you will either need to move it closer to you, add a Turbo.

In my experience, John is right on the money.

I too live in a home with cement floors, and was amazed one day to help set up a friends sub in a home with wood flooring. The tactile sensation you get in such a room is completely missing in my room.

But, I took some advice from the docs that came with my HSU 1225...try near field placement. Holy crap! What a difference. Right now I have the 1225 laying behind my couch, between the couch and the back wall. There are times during certain films (Sky Captain, SW AOTC) where you would swear that the couch is lifting off of the ground.

My family is usually very unimpressed with anything I have done in my rig, but they were amazed at how things were transformed when I moved the sub. If your room will allow you to do so, try placing it close to your seating position.

Seriously, I have no life.

By tuning do you mean moving the sub around the room? Your room dimension changed. Your listening distances must have also changed. Perhaps you are in a null?

A null is also a definite possibility, but the concrete tends to have a bit of an absorbing effect, and also has far fewer (or different) resonant modes compared to a suspended wood floor. I went from upstairs to downstairs and I can tell you that at ref cal, the current setup does not give me the same tactile response as before (room is larger too though) - some of the sensation coming directly from the floor.
