I am in need of opinions and or advice on my reciever choice please... Denon AVR 987 with B&W DM604 S3 for my fronts and rears and B&W LCR600 S3 for the center. Is the reciever a good choice for these speakers? Should I be looking at higher end recievers? Thanks... Zach

Nothing wrong with that combination from a power standpoint. Does the receiver meet your source/display requirements?

well at this point I am not doing video... I know right now 5.1 surround is virtually pointless unless I do video... but for whenever I DO video it will be a Samsung 1080P LCD with either a Sony or Samsung BluRay player. Oh yeah.. for sub I am planning on doing a Velodyne Digital Drive 12". But as far as audio player I will be doing a Denon cd player for now...

I don't think listening to music in 5.1 surround is pointless...especially if it's DVD-A or SACD. Try listening to a well produced multi-channel recording on 5 or 7 properly calibrated speakers (Steely Dan, for example) and then say 5.1 is virtually pointless...

You hit that one outta the park!
The Steely Dan recordings in highrez really make the surround sound music experience come alive.
