My TV has two HDMI terminals, my DVD player has one, my receiver has two, and my HD cable box has one. How do I connect things? My old receiver never had HDMI's so I used digital...whats best with this setup?? I guess what I am wondering is if I connect TV to cable box via HDMI how do I encorporate my receiver? HELP!!! thanks!!

Depends on your cable box and provider if that HDMI also contains audio. Or, you have to run separate audio from the cable box. And, if you always use your receiver when watching TV or at times you or the family just use the TV speakers for some programs.

You can run the two HDMI sources to the TV directly, in either case.

What would you suggest for a hook up if indeed did want to use the TV speakers on occasion?

TV just has 1 HDMI
Tivo Series 3
Pioneer Elite VSX-82TSX

Thanks

If you want to use the TV speakers at times for convenience, I can understand that:p , run analog audio cables from the TV box or use the cable's rf out to the TV as well.

HDMI hook up

I have two prefered methods.
If you want to watch TV without having the receiver on, run the HDMI cables from the cable box and DVD to the TV inputs. This will give you picture and sound to the TV. Then run coax or optical from the cable box and TV to the receiver digital inputs.
If you don't mind having the receiver on while listening to the TV speakers plug the HDMI cables from the cable box and DVD to the receiver HDMI inputs and another HDMI cable from the reveiver output to the TV. Most receivers will pass the audio through to the TV so you will need to run coax or optical from the cable box and DVD. This allows the TV to stay on the same input and the receiver does the switching.

Option1 sounds great, except the TV only has 1 HDMI

But I guess it works for now since the DVD player isn't HDMI.
