Yesterday I decided to watch Tears of the Sun on Blu-ray. I noticed that there is an uncompressed 5.1 PCM audio track, so I naturally selected this audio track. But my Denon 2805 only output it as 2-channel stereo. I looked in the manual and couldn't really find much information on PCM processing, other than 2-channel info.

I guess this means that the 2805 can't output 5.1 PCM audio?

How is your PS3 connected to the Denon, optical/coax or HDMI?

You need HDMI for the lossless (uncompressed LPCM) audio; it cannot be passed via optical.

The 2805 does not have HDMI and the PS3 does not have analogue out. So with this equipment you can't enjoy the 5.1 Lossless tracks on Blu-ray, sorry.

cheers:)

Bummer.

Damn technology!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I already want a new TV, because mine only has Component and DVI inputs. Now I need a new receiver to enjoy lossless audio!!!! My 2805's barely a year old!!!

Oh well, good old Dolby Digital and DTS still sound great to me. I guess I'll just have to upgrade in a couple of years. By then all this HDMI, HD-DVD, Blu-ray stuff will probably all be worked out.
