when using bi-wire cables I know I have to have four wires going into the speaker...to the receiver do I strip the the four wires and connect two together so I have only two wires going to the receiver??

Yes, the two wires connect to the same terninals on the receiver.

You can accomplish the same thing by using one wire from the receiver and using a jumper strip or wire between the terminal on the speakers.
