Well, this makes my 600th post, so I thought I would commemorate that buy starting my first ever thread. :D
And what better first thread topic, then about my stereo…

Some time after I set up my HT, I realized; ‘hay! I want a nice two channel rig!’… so I went about getting one.

The first thing that I picked up was the A-1D, I know that speakers should have come first, but it was the last run of the things and I didn’t want to risk it, because it fit my needs, it was the only new integrated amp I could find in my price range that I liked, and it just looks so dang cool! :p
But I found it to be a nice little amplifier, it has all discrete components (well, I think there is one IC in there), will power 4 ohms.

Then I bought the iQ1’s. sight unheard. You see, the coaxial design intrigued me a lot, and since the nearest KEF dealer is several hundred miles away, and auditioning them was pretty much out of the question, I bought them on-line having never heard them before. Don’t try that at home kids!
But, I am really quite pleased with them, they sound spectacular - vocals and horns especially - and the imaging is involving.

Then the DCD-C750, partly because I like Yamaha, but mostly because just about nobody makes a relatively affordable universal disc changer.

And the AudioQuest interconnections, partly because they look cool and it can impress the wine and cheese types, but also because BJC would have been more expensive, and I didn’t know about monoprice.com at the time.

great setup! question: if only using for audio, why did you purchase a universal player as opposed to a dedicated player?

Obviously DVD Audio and SACD high resolution stereo.:D

No.5, that is one nice setup you got there. I would like to hear more about the Teac integrated amp. Does it have preouts?:)

Good looking speakers. Nice little 2-channel rig. :D

Seth was right; for high-rez stereo.
looks real comfortable to listen in!
Yep, it's very relaxing... and the chair is squishy. :D

Yes, it has pre-outs. I can post some more pictures of it if you like, and some more information too. :)

:D yeah, but it's not so bad when I have my eyes closed. :D

I actually got it for free from a friend because it was glitchy. It was an ok universal player, until I got the 750.

I was really surprised at how close the Insignias look to the KEF's.
Which AQ cables?
nothing too fancy, just G-snake.

Gotta love multi-quotes.:D

I wouldn't mind if you posted more pics and info on the Teac. I have had my eye on that model for a week or so now. It seems like a really nice piece of equipment, very solid appearance. Is it heavy?

I'll try to get some pictures and info up tomorrow... if you can wait that long. :D

Gotta love that 19mm aluminum face plate :D. Teac says that it weighs about 21 pounds.

It may not be a Parasound...

Here are some pictures of the inside of my Teac A-1D:

The transformer is not relay the biggest, but it's only a 50WPC amplifier (in to 8 ohms, 75 into 4 ohms), and besides, it has pre-outs.

So far it has proven itself to have sufficient power, and a well balanced detailed sound (a reviewer on Amazon.com compared it to NAD), the only speakers that I have used with it have been the iQ1's, so I shall refrain from being too enthusiastic about its performance. :p

It seems very solid, though; even the relays make a solid and heavy sound when it's turned on or off. :D

Looks pretty decent for a 50w amp actually. Nothing earth shattering, but nice.

I will have some pics of my bedroom setup with the new speakers soon too

That is very nice for what it is and the price. the two 10,000uF 50v caps are quite adequate and the toroid is also very good. The output stage looks hefty as well. I really want one now.:D

I forgot to add in my last post about the headphone output; I think it has a dedicated headphone amplifier, I'm not sure, but it really seems like it.

Nice. I used to use my phones a lot in the bedroom, but now that I don't have neighbors with an attached wall, I don't have to worry about it :)

Yeah, I live in the country, it's nice not having neighbors to worry about. :)
